@PP69153735 @the_hoch @ReubenR80027912 I think the issue is more that you simply underestimate what a “6th grade reading level” is. 6th graders can read novel-length books. Written for teens obviously, but they can read them.

@the_hoch @ReubenR80027912 You do need to be able to read in order to stock groceries. 30 years ago a stocker would have to stock a can of peas. Nowadays they have to stock several varieties of peas. No Salt. Low Salt. Ect. You dont just stock AIM toothpaste anymore. You stock 25 versions

I refuse to believe that most Americans can not read at a 7th grade level If this is “true” then it means we are simply measuring literacy incorrectly; 163M Americans are actively employed Can your 6th grader read an employment contract? Read heavy machinery instructions?

If you have the basic skills to participate in the discourse at all — like you can read and comprehend a New York Times article in order to complain about it — you’re in a weird, out of touch, elite bubble. slowboring.com/p/in-defense-o…

@AlexanderPayton But of course, every single US ally needs to play the role of Donald Trump Tard Wrangler where they let him say stupid shit with no pushback, otherwise they’re “not real allies” because the US is a very serious nation with a very serious leader.

@AlexanderPayton Your reality, in which the US is able to say stupid shit with absolutely 0 pushback by its allies, is legitimately retarded. Of course they reacted the way they did. Had they not, you’d’ve probably said that it was a sign of weakness that they did nothing.

@AlexanderPayton @Alicoh1 So military force for me, but not for thee. And if thee uses military force, even as a preventative measure, it’s treacherous. But not when I constantly push towards political annexation of your land.

We shouldn’t take military force off the table. We shouldn’t tell anyone, even Europe, the conditions under which we would use military force. And, it would still be completely unreasonable, bordering on treacherous, for the Europeans to think we would use military force just to annex the island outside of WWIII.

@zhkgi @tsantihero13 @adonis_singh If there is a shockwave effect in which the current rate of funding slows drastically, would that affect the ability to train more advanced AI platforms? Do you see that happening in the future?

@take_mandoru @tsantihero13 @adonis_singh You’re objectively wrong. Video streaming uses far more data and energy per hour than generative AI queries. You’re confusing the training of AI with the use of AI. Running AI isn’t data or energy intensive, training AI is though. millions pay for access to gen AI models

@zhkgi @tsantihero13 @adonis_singh I said “no demand” as an example. I don’t believe there will be 0 demand for gen AI lmfao calm down. My question, at its core, is essentially “Will gen AI platforms cont. at this pace with a decrease in user base/funding?” You said yes, and explained. End of convo.

@zhkgi @tsantihero13 @adonis_singh “So does everything on the Internet” but that still requires funding. If there’s no demand, there’s no funding, and gen AI needs a lot more data than normal internet traffic. Equating it to the internet here just doesn’t make sense to me.

@take_mandoru @tsantihero13 @adonis_singh So does everything on the internet. There is utility in the product, people will pay for it, even if the “funding” dries up. The main data centre costs right now are for training. That can be scaled back while retaining the same existing product.

@zhkgi @tsantihero13 @adonis_singh Doesn’t Gen AI still require a ton of data centers to keep running? If the funding dries up, would they still be able to continue running? Genuinely asking btw, seems like people aren’t mentioning that

@khris409 It’s a tough rope to cross because Messiah at its core is not action focused whatsoever. Villeneuve is at his best when he has some action scenes to chew on but Messiah has like three actual points where any action happens. Beyond that, it’s mainly philosophical introspection.

@khris409 I actually kinda agree. Not that Messiah is a bad book or anything, but that Villeneuve needs to take extra care in both adapting a story to please fans of the series while also appealing to the normal movie-going audience

#Dune3 faces a major challenge, as the next book in the series isn’t considered particularly strong. This isn’t to predict the film will definitely be weaker or radically different. But Denis Villeneuve and his co-writers arguably need to show a level of adaptive flexibility and creativity beyond what they have done so far in order to elevate it to a place where it feels like a 'Return of the King' rather than a 'Godfather Part III.' hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-n…
