There's no evidence that tens of thousands of Iranians were killed by the regime earlier this year.
This claim has been repeatedly promoted to support a war by fanatics who threatened to destroy Iran altogether.

The dishonesty is clear for all to see. I invited @piersmorgan multiple times to travel to Iran, and he refused. I offered to debate him live in a @PressTV studio in Tehran. The head of Press TV said we could hold hours of live debate, but he refused. But keep pushing propaganda.

I Norge har det av ulike grunner vært en forståelse for palestinerenes kamp mot den usraelske overmakten. Men etter at vi ble dratt inn i den amerikanske proxikrigen mot Russland har venstresiden av geostrategiske grunner blitt mer israelvennlige.
Nå opplever venstresiden en slags kognitiv dissonans. De klarer ikke helt å godta den usraelske aggresjonen i Midt-Østen, men samtidig er krigen mot Russland det viktigste og de kan derfor ikke legge makt bak kravene.
På nynorsk kalles dette et geopolitisk "cluster fuck." Det er den perfekte stormen av realpolitisk dumskap og kortsiktighet.

The main losers of this war has been the Gulf States. Being frontline states for a declining hegemon is a disaster, as Ukraine and Europe will also at some point recognise. Frontline states in Asia, such as South Korea, Japan and Taiwan, are now having these discussions. The hegemon is gone and its alliance systems such as NATO must be replaced with inclusive security arrangements. Make peace with your neighbours!

Trump's genocidal threats are, of course, illegal and a point of unforgivable shame.
But it may also be the bluster before a significant retreat. Trump may accept a variation of Iran's proposal, but precisely to avoid appearing as if he caved, he issues these bombastic threats to leave the impression that Iran backed down out of fear.
Accepting elements of the Iranian proposal would have several benefits for Trump: Though Iran insists on charging transit fees, the Straits would nevertheless reopen. Oil would flow once more, which would swiftly push down gas prices in the US. Trump can point to this as a major win, while belittling Tehran's newly won control over the waterway.
But precisely because he will be slammed for this by many voices in Washington and in Israel, he needs a narrative that claims Iran caved to his threats. Hence, the unprecedented threats.
