@joelporsch @MaccaCoaching Because it’s still a concept widely used at the top level. Many teams will use an aggressive CB to cover the assist zones. Gabriel at Arsenal is frequently covering these zones, with the ‘6’ dropping into the box centrally.

@thetacticsguy @MaccaCoaching If it’s a “basic concept” then why are you putting the team in front of the goal and highlighting the “high xG zone”? Then, for me, there must be a connection to the space the action is happening in.

@joelporsch @MaccaCoaching The animation shows one basic concept for the use of press, cover and balance. However I agree, the 6 covering is a widely used solution, as is doubling up with the wide player to track any overlapping or underlapping runs. Same game, different solutions!

@thetacticsguy @MaccaCoaching Why should the CB cover the assist zone in the box? Thus you have a smaller RB/LB on 2nd post. A 6 could cover it better, if needed.
