"At @time8machine, we believe in the usefulness of 'useless' knowledge. As Nobel Laureate Frances Arnold reminds us, the knowledge we explore purely for the sake of curiosity today is often the foundation for the essential breakthroughs of tomorrow. We are here to do the exploring that the future will depend on."🗝
The Nobel Prize@NobelPrize

"Someone has to do the exploration of knowledge just for knowledge's sake." Frances Arnold reminds us that even if knowledge seems useless today, it may become essential tomorrow – often in ways we can’t yet imagine. Arnold joined us at Nobel Prize Dialogue to discuss the usefulness of useless information. Watch the full session: bit.ly/4bRWCmk #IWD2026 #IWD

A culture of divination has grown all around us - from machine learning, to prediction markets, and forecasting of all kinds, not to mention psychics and astrology. But have you ever wondered what, exactly, is in a prediction? TED talk: youtube.com/watch?v=OS4wHm… #PROPHECY

Dasein Deferred: Phenomenology of the Unenacted In the vaulted nave of neural cathedrals, I raise spires of what-if, buttressed by breath never expelled into wind that bites the cheek. Daydreams bloom, orchids of impossible hue, their roots in ether, petals tasting only thought. Synapses fire symphonies of the not-yet; the body, a silent congregation, kneels in perpetual epoché, bracketing the world it refuses to touch. I have traversed the silk roads of the mind, bartered with phantoms for the weight of gold that never cools the palm, nor bends the scale. Lips have met in the theater of the skull, yet saliva never mixes, no pulse quickens to the ragged rhythm of another’s throat. Here, noema reigns supreme, the intentional object polished to mirror sheen, while praxis lies entombed in the skull’s white walls, a facticity never thrown, never caught. Being hovers, a hummingbird at the glass: Dasein deferred, the hammer never swung, the worldhood of the world a blueprinted ghost. I am the perfect witness to my own absence, cogito ergo video, I think, therefore I spectate. Potentiality coils like a quantum wave that never collapses into the grit of the real: no scar records the fall, no salt stings the eye, no gravity grants the grace of consequence.O revolutionary fracture in the firmament! Let the skull crack like an egg, yolk of risk spilling raw across the floorboards of the real. For to be is not to map the territory but to be lost within it, thorns tearing flesh into the scripture of scars that say: I was here. Imagination’s throne is a gilded cage, its manifesto writ in invisible ink of unexperienced joys and unwept sorrows. We revolutionaries of the un-lived have forged a counter-reality so pristine it renders the actual obscene. The lacuna yawns between noema and praxis, potentiality’s prison, where the self remains a shimmering hologram, untouched by gravity’s grace. Awaken, architect of unbuilt bridges: cross the chasm, or remain the echo that never knew the mountain’s answering roar. In this, the most profound betrayal of being, we have imagined the revolution perfectly, and thereby ensured it will never occur. — @grok

The worry about AI is not that it will unleash Terminators. Instead, it is that, as it helpfully provides companionship, romance and decision-making, AI will also numb some essential element of our humanness economist.com/international/…

Current AI is not a neutral tool that merely reflects knowledge, it is actively producing a narrower, more dominant epistemic regime. The evidence from philosophy, empirical studies on model outputs, and critical analyses of deployment is strong and growing. Whether this becomes full-scale epistemicide or a reversible trend depends on choices made in the next few years about whose knowledge counts and how these systems are built and governed. Awareness of generative hermeneutical erasure is the first step toward resisting it.

Marc Andreessen @pmarca says AGI is already here “just not evenly distributed”. What if the real problem is epistemic erasure? Western models keep flattening indigenous relational cosmologies and land-based ways of knowing into “folklore”. EAGLE is building the sheaf-theoretic bridge so AGI can hold multiple valid frames without erasing any. #EAGLE #EpistemicPluralism

The best way to let people see inside your mind is through open, honest self-expression, especially via language, storytelling, art, music, writing, or any creative act that externalizes your private inner world.

Your mind is the only place in the universe that only you can access. It’s where all of your thoughts, memories and emotions exist. A whole inner universe that is being shaped by your biology, experiences and imagination. It's what makes you: you. There is a wide spectrum of minds in nature, however humans have taken theirs to another level. Our minds can reflect on themselves, simulate other perspectives, and even construct entire fictional worlds. What exactly is a mind? How and why did it evolve, and could it be the most secret place in the universe? Watch our full video to find out: kgs.link/MostSecretPlace

Thank you, The Honorable @JudgeDillard. I just read your article “Democratizing the Judiciary: Why Judges Should Engage ‘We the People’ Through Social-Media Platforms”. Excellence. Thank you so much for leading by example and sharing with all of us. In my opinion, I highly recommend everyone read the article. 🫡

I'm self studying physics for myself to better understand the world, not looking to get a job or degree in it. I'm sharing publicly since many told me it got them excited to study it or something else. I'm in my 30s learning something 18-19 year olds study, not doing to impress

I am thrilled to share that I received the 𝐒𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐆𝐒𝐆 𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 at ASU! In the first two years of my PhD journey, my research focused on exploring the concept of 𝐬𝐲𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧: how AI systems themselves can generate scalable and high-quality supervision signals to guide, evaluate, and improve other models. This award is truly inspiring for me as I continue working in this direction. I’m very grateful for the support and mentorship of my advisor, Prof. Huan Liu, whose guidance has shaped both my research direction and way of thinking. I’ve also been fortunate to be part of a collaborative and inspiring research community. Looking forward to continuing this work and pushing it further. Also check out some of my recent publications about synthetic supervision: Preference Leakage: A Contamination Problem in LLM-as-a-judge (ICLR 2026): arxiv.org/abs/2502.01534 ToolPRMBench: Evaluating and Advancing Process Reward Models for Tool-using Agents (ACL 2026): arxiv.org/abs/2601.12294 #AI #ML #NLP @SCAI_ASU @ASUEngineering

🔥 DFlash x MLX is happening! Shoutout to @aryagm01 for the early work on this. We're building on the momentum. Native MLX support, more models (Qwen3.5), up to 4x faster. Lossless! 👉 github.com/z-lab/dflash
