Before I do anything I ask myself “Would an idiot do that?” And if the answer is yes, I do not do that thing.

The Eagles remain open to trading AJ Brown, the Patriots remain highly interested in acquiring the star receiver, and conversations are expected to resume shortly on or before June 1, likely culminating in a deal, per league sources. As one source said about the Patriots' pursuit of Brown, they'll “definitely be engaging then.” A trade to New England is now considered likely.

A.J. Brown is likely to become a Patriot post June 1, per ESPN sources. This and more in ESPN’s annual NFL Draft intel column: espn.com/nfl/draft2026/…

Holy hell enough of this. Walker and Castellanos are the only two bad deals. They had to re-sign Nola and everyone was happy they did at the time. Would you prefer they don’t have Turner, Wheeler, Schwarber and Harper? Please tell me who exactly would be catching right now?
Philly Nation@Philly__Nation

The Phillies still owe Bryce Harper, Trea Turner, Zack Wheeler, Aaron Nola, JT Realmuto, Kyle Schwarber, Taijuan Walker, and Nick Castellanos $810 million dollars if you include this year. Every player is 33-years-old or older. Dave Dombrowski.

@LeCGP_ @JohnStolnis It’s not an impressive list of guys ready but Dante Nori and Gabriel Rincones for starters. I’m actually surprised more people aren’t beating the drum for Nori after the WBC. Would also try BDLC who plays LF, had a strong spring, and has played in the MLB before.

@timebuh @JohnStolnis Let's not pretend like the gap between AA and AAA is so big to the point where it's not even worth mentioning AA stats . "Let’s give the kid a chance over proven MLB players" ... no one is saying that. Also, are those "better prospects" in the room with us ?

@LeCGP_ @JohnStolnis Ahhh you got me, it’s actually 22 games at the AAA level. My bad! Yes, highly touted guys often don’t pan out, surely they just aren’t good at evaluating guys and prospects aren’t a crap shoot. Let’s give the kid a chance over proven MLB players and better prospects.

@timebuh @JohnStolnis Well first of all it's not just 17 games. And then, you can have all the datas, the best coaches and scouts ... no one can predict how a player will respond when playing in the bigs. Also, the number of highly touted prospects not panning out is enormous so 🤷

@LeCGP_ @JohnStolnis Bc there are scouts, coaches, and data guys who look at more than just AAA numbers over 17 games. It’s VERY rare that guys come out of no where to be good or even replacement level MLB players. What’s worse is people want to replace Marsh, who has a .785 OPS with the Phillies.

@timebuh @JohnStolnis "have no where to play everyday on the MLB roster" Yes and that's the issue ... how can we possibly judge if a player is MLB Ready or not while dividing his at bats by 4 or 5 ? Seems impossible to me ngl.

@LeCGP_ @JohnStolnis I could be wrong, prospects are a crap shoot, the issue is he, like Kemp, are not regarded highly and have no where to play everyday on the MLB roster. Some guys are also just not MLB guys and when you only give them spot starts they rarely succeed.

@timebuh @JohnStolnis He is MLB Ready, just like Kemp. The issue is that everything falls apart the moment they have to play only once or twice per week 🤷

@johnrussell_34 @JohnStolnis Agreed. Which is why putting a lot of stock in a guy’s AAA numbers who is not regarded highly is silly. He’s not even a top 30 prospect in our thin system, but sure he’ll jump to the big leagues and replicate his 1.000 OPS. Kemp was the guy last year.

@DK_Assist How is it considered an inherent risk for fantasy but not straight bets? The risk of injury is always a factor and if you’re going to reward early exits you should refund entry fees as well.

Charles Oliveira just completely dominated Max Holloway 5-0 & maybe all 10-8 rounds I hate to say it but Holloway's entire career just got fraud checked. He never fought a truly elite grappler that actually tried to take him down

@RobbieBarstool The fight is a side show for entertainment that’s why it exits. it’s not a fight marketed amongst contenders. They’re expected to throw caution to the wind. Justin is literally the interim champ and got KO’d by max. This fight is meaningless for rankings

It's just a weird title because of what it's supposed to represent - but is Charles supposed to not fight smart for the sake of what a (not real) belt "represents"? I see both sides
John Canelao@HFjohnnyC

@RobbieBarstool DC is right. Should be a strike only belt. Its bad mother fucker not best fucking grappler.

Bryce Harper on lobbying for MLB players to play in the 2028 Olympics: "Obviously the WBC is great, but it's not the Olympics. That's no disrespect to the WBC or anything. But everybody knows when the Olympics are on everybody is watching. Doesn't matter what sport it is. It could be the most random sport and it has all of the fans watching it. I hope LA '28 happens. I'm hoping the next CBA agreement can happen where teams and players can come to an agreement on taking that two-week break, especially it being in our home country. It would be great for baseball. You talk about growing the game and being able to grow it at that, at the highest level would help out tremendously.''

@Jeff_McLane The notion that there is an offer that will make the eagles better by subtracting Brown is nonsense. They will have a glaring hole on offense at WR 1/2, so unless the offer is Jamar Chase or Justin Jefferson, late 1st round picks do not help the eagles win next year.

As the headline for this story suggests, and as I’ve been consistent in saying for weeks, I still believe the prospects of the #Eagles trading A.J. Brown are around 50-50. A few weeks ago, I was leaning slightly less than 50% that he leaves. After Howie Roseman and Nick Sirianni did their pre-NFL combine media tour, I started leaning slightly more than 50%. Now I’m back to slightly less. After I filed my story yesterday, I had a high-ranking member of one team that would be interested in Brown express exasperation with the #Eagles’ asking price (believed to be a first and second round draft pick) and whether it even suggested a willingness to trade. He put a third round pick value on Brown, but my guess is that was a little bit of posturing, just as Howie Roseman’s initial asking price is probably the same. But the difference suggests how far apart the Eagles are from potential offers at this stage. We’re still early in the process, even if the start of the league year could build momentum toward a decision by the Eagles, and move Roseman off his initial asking price. But he’s a master at grinding out close to what he wants, even if potential partners have become more cautious in doing deals with someone who has “won” so many. Nevertheless, Roseman’s public messaging has been consistent and does represent his messaging to teams — that he needs to be convinced it’s within the Eagles’ best interest to move on from a great player.
Jeff McLane@Jeff_McLane

INDIANAPOLIS — The #Eagles are assessing A.J. Brown’s trade market. Just don’t expect Howie Roseman to give him away. My column after a week of reporting on the possible trade at the NFL combine: inquirer.com/eagles/aj-brow…
