Every oncologist and cancer researcher should watch this interview with @BenSasse:
nytimes.com/2026/04/09/opi…
Daraxonrasib, a “super poison for cancer,” shrank his metastatic pancreatic tumors by 76%, even though he says his skin feels and looks “nuclear.” When I learned of his diagnosis, I wanted him to get this drug (oral RAS ON inhibitor), which is poised to become first-line therapy in pancreatic cancer. I hope his experience on a clinical trial encourages more patients to enroll in studies, and pushes clinicians and researchers to keep advancing new therapies.

@jlockett02 “These stories have no moral complexity to them at all.”
English

@TheMiddleborne Seconded. The problem isn’t that I disagree with TRoP’s adaptation choices; it’s that they’re so often inexplicable.
English

The problem with RoP is that every possible narrative fork in the road the showrunners faced(or forced on themselves), they chose the dumbest possible route.
Heck, sometimes they didn’t even take a road but dove into the crap filled gutter
Proto-hobbits, but make them murderers.
Warrior Galadriel but make her a petulant teenager
Numenor but make them tiny, stupid, poor, and racist against elves.
Orcs, but give them a nuclear family
Sauron but make him black goo
Mithril but make it magic silmethril
Dwarves but make them look like not dwarves and not know how to mine
Volcano eruption but it can’t kill anyone people.
Cavalry charge but everyone stops on a dime when they don’t get stopped by a tiny bridge
Elrond but short with short hair and he has the hots for his future mother-in-law
Galadriel and Sauron but it’s a toxic love story
Galadriel and her husband but he’s nowhere to be found and her daughter(Elrond’s future wife) doesn’t exist
Wizard falls from sky and is named Grand Elf despite them using the word “Gand” for a staff earlier.
Greatest smith in the world but he doesn’t know alloys and his greatest creations are somehow uncut gems
Warg but it’s retarded
Huge Troll but he gets defeated by jump cuts

Waiving the Jones Act is a good step to reduce prices in the short term…. But if everyone acknowledges it lowers prices, Congress should permanently repeal it.
Eliminating this non sensical protectionist policy would save Americans $769 million annually
Annmarie Hordern@annmarie
Trump temporarily waived the Jones Act. “President Trump’s decision to issue a 60-day Jones Act waiver is just another step to mitigate the short-term disruptions to the oil market as the U.S. military continues meeting the objectives of Operation Epic Fury,” Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement.

If you're not following @HumanProgress, you're missing out--not on progress, but the best understanding of how things are getting better and why. Kudos @Marian_L_Tupy @chellivia

75 years ago, 1 out of every 5 dollars a US family earned went to food. Today that's closer to 1 in 10. A slow, steady, easy-to-miss kind of progress.

@1967mustangman @_DavidMorrell I was not prepared for how hard that one hit.
English

@_DavidMorrell I believe The Scholar's Tale is one of the most moving stories I have ever read.
English

My dear friend & incomparable author Dan Simmons died Saturday from a stroke at age 77. He defied literary norms, exploring historical fiction, horror, crime & other genres. His must-read titles include THE SONG OF KALI & HYPERION. He was one of a kind.

@Briangelashvili @Lordoftheringsu Why did Sauron dress in black?
Because he wanted to be MORE GOTH!!! 😅😂🤣
English

@Lordoftheringsu Melkor actually conquered Middle-Earth and held off the host of Valinor for decades so he takes it by a mile. Sauron eventually helped the Numenoreans beat themselves, lost his war with the Elves, lost the war of the Last Alliance, took 1,000 years to beat Arnor, Lost WotR.
English

Melkor sought to corrupt all creation, while Sauron sought to dominate it through order.
Melkor was the stronger power, but his destruction burned out quickly. Sauron’s control lasted far longer less powerful, but far more effective.
So, which one do you think was the true Dark Lord of Middle-earth?
