In theory, consistency is about being disciplined, determined, and unwavering. In practice, consistency is about being adaptable. Don't have much time? Scale it down. Don't have much energy? Do the easy version. Find different ways to show up depending on the circumstances. Let your habits change shape to meet the demands of the day. Adaptability is the way of consistency.

An incredible 1km TT world record by @JeffreyHoogland #TeamNL: 55.433sec in Aguascalientes, Mexico, 0.87sec off the record of @FrancoisPervis. Reduced air density helped improve peak speed (74.9kph) & reduce decline in speed over the course of the event compared with sea level.

Great quote around cognitive dissonance from @JamesClear... also reading in the replies how ideas about ourselves create blindspots in our thinking, particularly around how we approach knowing what we don't know #adamgrant, and thus how we approach personal growth/change.
James Clear@JamesClear

The more an idea is tied to your identity, the more you will ignore evidence it is false. To continue to grow and learn, you must be willing to update, expand, and edit your identity.

Is learning a paradox? Our attention is drawn to what we feel is important and is relatable in the moment. If we're yet to take on new knowledge how can we identify it as important or relevant to us?

If a football team qualifies for the Olympics they play with 11 players plus subs, if a Team Pursuit Team qualifies for the Olympics they send four rider plus subs. So why is it in road racing do nations qualify with some allowed to send a full team, & other fractions of a team?

When sporting greats fade, you question whether the standards have increased, whether that athlete would have won in the modern era, even at their peak. Mark Cavendish has now beaten three generations of the best sprinters, on the biggest stage. No more questions needed.
