There’s no space for hate—on or off the court.
Today, we launch ‘No Space for Hate’, a league-wide platform focused on promoting respect across the WNBA.
From enhanced social media and arena security to increased mental health support, we’re taking action to create a safer, more unified space for all.
Because in the W, respect is non-negotiable.

"We cannot have a situation where international law must be applied to some but can be disregarded by others" @SimonHarrisTD tells me. "In our history we know what it's like to struggle for statehood... we felt it was important to say to the people of Palestine, we see you".

“Your heart breaks every single day”: @IamArwaDamon has been to Gaza three times during this war with her charity, @InaraOrg. She tells me each trip reveals that there is "less aid and more need."

On 9 Aug 1956, 20 000 women of all races marched to the Union Buildings to protest pass laws.
Today, we stand on the shoulders of every one of those courageous women, and every woman who has fought and continues to fight for the liberation of the country.

The Women’s March on 9 August 1956 was a pivotal event in South African history. Thousands of women marched to the Union Buildings in Pretoria to protest against the pass laws that restricted the movement of black South Africans.
Today, on #WomensDay, we thank all those brave women, including Lilian Ngoyi, Helen Joseph, Rahima Moosa, Sophia Williams-De Bruyn and Amina Cachalia, to mention a few, on whose shoulders we stand as we celebrate #30YearsOfDemocracy in South Africa this year.

@dieworkwear So completely true if you've had to create something 'for' someone else.

A friend of mine once brought an associate of his to meet Antonio Panico, a legendary bespoke tailor in Naples, Italy. Panico used to be the head cutter at Rubinacci, the most famous tailoring house in the region.
In the old Neapolitan way of ordering a suit, you don't just go in, plunk your card down, and order a suit. You sit, have a cup of espresso, and chat for a while. This allows the tailor to get a sense of who you are and what clothes might suit you.
Panico is very old school. He's a short Italian man with a voice that sounds like an old truck engine (likely from years of smoking). When you enter his workshop, there's a "greeting room," where you hang out for a bit. You can see it below. I took that photo about 12 years ago when I visited. There's some beautiful art on the walls; in the back, there's a desk with tailor shears. It's a really remarkable place run by one of the most elegant men I've ever met.
Anyway, when my friend brought this associate to meet Panico, they went through the ritual. Sat down, had coffee, chatted for a bit. Then the friend was ready to order a suit. When they all stood up, Panico put his hand on this person's back and said "I think you're elegant enough." He wasn't allowed to order.
That was a background check.

Illinois has a 72-hour waiting period. Usually takes six weeks for @smith_bespoke to get me a pair of trousers. But there's the whole background check thing that negates your argument.

@erinoverbey Very heartbreaking. Women have a responsibility to act to end gender based violence, abuse too. To #believeher. Unfortunately this story is so common.

@amnestyusa Thank you. Children MUST be legally protected from abuse and exploitation
