For over 1.5 years, Ukrainian intelligence prepared a large-scale covert operation. 117 FPV drones were secretly delivered to Russia and hidden in trucks disguised as ordinary mobile wooden cabins. The trucks were parked near four strategic airfields. At the appointed time, the roofs of the cabins opened remotely, and the drones launched a simultaneous attack. According to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), a total of 41 aircraft were damaged or destroyed. Among them were scarce strategic missile-carrying bombers Tu-95, Tu-22M3, Tu-160, as well as an A-50 long-range radar detection aircraft. The total damage amounted to about $7 billion. The operation delivered a severe blow to Russia’s nuclear triad and forced the Russian command to urgently relocate and strengthen the protection of its long-range aviation.
