How did he get the permit? Who granted it? When? Why? How? Why is a member of a terrorist group adforded privacy? Make it make sense.

Unbelievable collapse, unprecedented in the country’s history. He will go down as the idiot king. In business and politics lack of executional skills does extreme damage!

It got so bad, YVR turned off the comments to their post How about stopping with your virtue signalling and focus on running an airport. The public is growing tired of this stuff, so people and corporations can try to feel better about themselves

🚨 JUST IN: President Trump TERMINATED the Obama-era mandate that pushed auto start-stop systems into vehicles. You know the one. You stop at a red light. Your engine shuts off. Every. Single. Time. Doesn’t matter if you hate it. Doesn’t matter if it wears down the starter. Doesn’t matter if you have to turn it off manually every time you start the car. It was forced in the name of “efficiency.” Trump just ended it. No more government telling automakers how to design your engine. No more being annoyed at every stoplight. Build better cars. Let consumers choose. Common sense is back.

This Redditor describes how a visa scammer bragged about repeatedly extending or delaying his status through study permits (never showed up in school), an ineligible PGWP application, reconsideration requests, visitor status, and finally the Francophone Mobility Program to get a WP extension. He only memorized enough phrases in French to meet the lowered language threshold! (1/3)

Imagine a woman fleeing an attacker—and her car won’t start because it thinks she’s impaired. Imagine a farmer injured on the job—his truck won’t start because it thinks he’s drunk. These are the unintended consequences of the Kill Switch mandate. Kill the Kill Switch.

May 5th NOM #1 — Rescinding the Climate Emergency Declaration With @chabot4ward10, I’m putting forward this motion to immediately rescind Calgary’s 2021 symbolic “Climate Emergency” declaration. City Administration has confirmed it was primarily symbolic. We already have a strong, evidence-based strategy guiding real long-term decisions. If passed, Calgary would be the FIRST city in North America to do this. Time to end the symbolic gestures and get back to responsible, evidence-based governing. Full motion attached.

The government announced plans to cover 1/3 of newsroom labour costs for Bell, Rogers, and Corus. Doubling the Labour Journalism Tax Credit scope is worth tens of millions of dollars and would insert government tax support into nearly all news operations. michaelgeist.ca/2026/04/the-go…

What could be wrong with the City of Calgary replacing water meters with advanced metering technology across the city, and implementing variable or tiered water rates? Nothing is ever free, tax-payer funds are used to replace the 10+ yo meters. Yes, they will reduce human efforts to read meters and enhance billing accuracy, with greater frequency of meter reading. Some say it will also improve leak detection, yet we all know that the real leaks are the 20%-25% that the city looses due to aging infrastructure. But the real kicker is that citizens did not vote for this change & it is "mandatory" for all properties per the Water Utility Bylaw (no opt-out allowed). And this is where things can go really wrong. State provided smart meters can also be used to remotely reduce or restrict, to the point of cutting off, water services. In a low trust society, this has to be one of the most draconian socialist moves the city can make. Most home owners are used to paying flat rates for actual water consumption; but these meters enable variable rate & Tiered-Rates, like time of day billing; don't listen to the so called water restrictions, pay a fine in real time. The City has clearly stated they want to tell us how much and when we can use water, a scheme called conservation-oriented rate structures. Big families/homes pay more, and shortage surcharges during droughts/restrictions. Welcome to the new tyranny where you shall thirst and not quench. Reduce by 20% or pay fines for being a bad citizen. Albertans are clamoring for FREEDOM, and the City of Calgary says we don't need to fix our mess, you just need to drink less. @DanWMcLean

I voted NO to the Water Efficiency Plan. Here's why. Over 3,400 Calgarians responded to our survey. More than 90% opposed the Water Efficiency Plan as written. Only 3% supported it. Yet, the plan passed by a vote of 10-5.  Between 2003 and 2016, per capita water use dropped over 30% through education and voluntary conservation.   This plan introduces mandatory watering schedules, $200 fines, and enforcement that Calgarians did not ask for. The disconnect is clear. Fix the pipes. Trust the residents. Arguments for the plan centred around its 'good' parts relating to infrastructure investments. My position is that we can make these investments without an overreaching trojan horse. THANK YOU to all who participated in the survey, you did NOT go unheard. We have seen in the past where Council had to walk back their decisions due to public outcry, I hope we are not heading down that same path where we as Council and Administration think we know better than the residents whom we represent and serve. #yyccc #yycpoli #calgary #yyc
