@MGecko117 The thing with The Forever Winter is that I think if executed competently or coherently it can be very ‘fun.’ I played before the water rework and there was a skeleton of something intriguing in there. With better loot/progression and tighter gameplay game could’ve been golden.

It may sound like a great idea in your head, but games are supposed to be fun first and foremost. Both Left Alive and The Forever Winter explored similar concepts, yet neither achieved major success
If you make a game with cool mechs fighting each other, but players only get to play as inconsequential infantry, they’ll simply interpret it as you telling them, “You don’t get to do any of the cool stuff because we hate you,” even if that’s not the original intention
Players don’t judge a game by how cool and revolutionary the devs think their idea is, they judge it based on how much fun they are having when they play the game. If the fantasy isn’t something they can meaningfully engage with, the concept alone won’t carry the game

Back in the early 2000s, 4chan had a furry problem. A single piece of furry art, it seemed, was enough to derail entire threads. To prevent the rest of the site from devolving into chaotic shitflinging, furry art was prohibited outside of /b/ (and even there, it was merely tolerated rather than encouraged).
In an apparent act of mercy, on April 1, 2005, a /fur/ board was finally added. Users were informed that all furry images should go there instead of /b/. Everyone assumed this would be temporary; it was just an April Fool's joke; surely the new board would be gone the next day. But on April 2, it was still there.
On April 3, everyone who had ever posted on the board was banned. Per the scholars at WikiFur, "[this] almost completely eliminated all furry (and many anti-furry) postings for the next several months."
