Brainstorming day in The Agency for students in the @MohawkCollege Public Relations - Corporate Communications postgraduate program.

The @MohawkCollege Public Relations program winter guest speaker series launched today. @MaryFearon, Founder/President of OnPrpose Inc. presented "Life's a Pitch." Students learned tips for selling their ideas, whether it's to top management or pitching to new business.

The PR program provides students with an opportunity to develop a professional industry network as they prepare for their career search in the winter semester. Brent, who is now one of those connections, also emphasized the importance of the network in career development.

Brent Carey (@brecarey), Vice President, Communications at Mattamy Asset Management wrapped up the @MohawkCollege PR program fall speaker series today. He shared thoughts on media relations/crisis communications and the importance of media relationships in sharing news.

Chief Bergen complemented Jackie's presentation on telling the tough stories, sharing the great stories, humanizing the badge, and building strong community relationships as part of the service's approach to equity, diversity, and inclusivity.

@HamiltonPolice Corporate Communicator, Jackie Penman, APR, brought along Chief Frank Bergen for today's guest speaking engagement to students in the @MohawkCollege PR program.

It was great to welcome back @MohawkCollege Public Relations grad - class of '08 - @Krista_Murray to the classroom today. Krista is Marketing Manager with Mabel's Labels (@mabelhood). Thanks for the insights into industry trends and career!

Week #4 wrapped up on a high note.@MohawkCollege public relations students enjoyed an insightful discussion with Health Journalist and Journalist in Residence McMaster University Faculty of Science @Avis_Favaro.

Always nice when a grad returns to the @MohawkCollege Public Relations Graduate Certificate Program. Megan McGuiness (class of '22) dropped in today on behalf of @CPRSHamilton, promoting student memberships and mentorship.

And this was just day one! @MohawkCollege public relations post-graduate students met with industry during our informal noon mixer today. A great start to the year and some invaluable network connections for the students!

A bit of personal news, I'm retiring from the news biz, as of April 30. 37 years a journalist, last 8 w/ @CBCHamilton, following 25 @TheSpec. So 33 yrs covering  #hamont news: From mob hits to Mum show, Plastimet, harbour cleanup, amalgamation & LRT. Will miss it tremendously.
