I really don’t understand why Bayern or Barcelona were reportedly willing to spend that much money on Anthony Gordon. First, because he’s a good player, but not a £70 million-level player. Second, because he would probably end up being a rotational or bench player at both clubs anyway. And third, for that kind of transfer fee, I would expect a player capable of consistently delivering around 40 combined goals and assists per season, and I’m not convinced he can do that.
I actually think it’s positive that Bayern didn’t end up spending most of the transfer budget on him. Hopefully that money can now be invested in positions that are more important for the squad depth.

The reason why fans rate players very badly is because they are ignorant of the constraints of football. They do not know what it takes to be a professional, what it takes to perform for 90 minutes, what it takes to make an impact against other professionals and to do it all at a Premier League level. How many players have the pace that Gordon has in behind? How many of them are also comfortable with the ball in central areas like him? How many of them have a nose for goal? How many of them are under 26? How many of them have been performing at the highest level regularly? How many of them have shown the physical durability that he has? There is only one u-26 winger in the world that answers all of this favourably. His name? Vinicius Junior. But you are looking for “dribbling” for your YouTube comps.

I hope you all know that before Arsenal signed Timber, they had names like Cancelo, Pavard, Fresneda, and Frimpong on their list, but they still chose Timber. At that time, Pavard was a very good player at Inter who could play both right back and centre back, a defender with Serie A, Bundesliga, World Cup, and UCL experience while nobody really knew Timber, but Arsenal knew exactly what they wanted.
If you watch Ratiu, you’ll know the kind of quality that guy has. He’s also a very fast right back, and his pace will be very useful.
