@veeb0rg Nice find! These cards benefit from a recap anyway, so no loss there. I'm not sure about a source for the 4.7uH coils. They are hard to find in that form factor. If the copper coiling is ok, it may be repairable? I haven't been able to find similar ones for a Radeon 9800 Pro.

I bought a lot of "scrap" pcb's off ebay when I saw this was included in the lot. Unfortunatly it was just packed loose and suffered some damage in shipping. The caps are easy enough but the 4.7 coils.. any one have a source for those? @vswitchzero

@mdscntstmgm Cool to see a card with some personal history behind it. I wish I kept some of mine but always ended up selling them to upgrade in those days. I'd be happy to recap it for you, but not sure what the shipping cost would be to Canada.

RIP you wonderful beast, I bought you at around 160€ and took you to around 40 (very small) LAN parties. Now you have died from multi-organ failure. 2 of 3 1000uF 16V caps and the sole 1500uF 6.3V cap have given up and left you unable to produce pictures. You will be missed.🫡😢

@JikissGamer Oh man, I just finished ROE and the super is so awesome. 😁 If only they included it in the original Doom 3 game. I really didn't like the standard one.

@jeffqchen Is the linear voltage regulator output consistent when it heats up?

Looking into this unstable STB System Voodoo 2. It looks like the card overheats and after running for a short while, all textures glitch out and then the system is locked up. Adding heatsinks extends the time and prevents locking, but the textures still glitch out.🤔

@JikissGamer I wish I knew more about CRT repair, but it's an area I've never gone into. I have a MAG Trinitron display that has the opposite problem. It's as if the brightness is way too high and everything looks washed out. There are some CRT wizards out there who may be able to help 🤞

I have a few CRT monitors that I need to dispose of and it pains me to do so because they're such good ones. But the screens in them are too dim to be usable and I don't think you can really repair that. They're just at the end of their lifespan.

@ThisOldTech2 Very nice! I had a socket 4 board like this with the same/similar opti chipset! From what I remember, VLB performance wasn’t great because it uses a bridge chip to make that work with Pentiums. That’s a rare gem! 💎

@vswitchzero ever see VLB on a Socket 5 Pentium board? Maybe a P200 Overdrive would be fun on something like this.... :D

@systems_glitch @S0N1Cua Can usually tell by the memory. Looks like the Micron SDRAM is 7ns, so it should be a 2000 🙂

@S0N1Cua Possibly, but the electrolytics near the Avenger chip usually mean small heatsink, which *usually* means 2000. No way to tell for sure what 3dfx meant it to be without looking at the ROM though :P

@echoLogin ESC doesn't appear to do anything for me when you are at the "enter your name" high score page. You have to enter something it seems.

@vswitchzero cant u press ESC ? or u mean it auto enters last name ?

@echoLogin Oh, and also I noticed that when I go to "high scores" from the main menu it just starts a new game from level one. I'm not sure but I think it started doing that after the latest patch. Cheers!

@echoLogin Really loving DemonStar - so much fun 😁 Minor feature request - I spent some time trying to get a high score, but you are forced to add your name every time. I didn't want to clutter the leader board so would be great to be able to exit without adding your name?
