My home also can be unlocked with Ethereum, by verifying a NFT (ENS) ownership. In this example, the system verifies if I have an ownership of piyo.eth @ensdomains.

Half an hour later, she set up a wallet, topped up with crypto and secured her ENS username. I call it a win-win-win 🔓🚀

Installed a development version of our Web3 smart lock system that can be opened by verifying an ENS/NFT ownership in our Shibuya office. (Dogfooding!) Anyone who has a subdomain of a42.eth can unlock the smart lock by signing with an Ethereum wallet.

@smileyflag We haven't tested yet but we believe that NFC also can be used to store signature and pass it to our system.

@smileyflag Auth by QR code is also possible. A user can generate a signature in advance and make QR code of it. Then the user can scan the QR code, and our system can verify the signature.

IRL I’m a qualified locksmith & security advisor/govt installer, so seeing @w3lock recently is interesting.
Unfortunately they don’t design the lock mechanism themselves, so any lock you use will lock inherit bypass issues from their manufacturer… i.e solanoid issues, wear

Basically,
1. the system verifies a user (wallet) by signature.
2. the system checks usage right of devices by referring to Ethereum smart contract.
We think this auth method can be utilized not only smart locks but also any IRL devices :)
