Purple Emperor larvae are changing skin, into their 3rd instar, very early. Unless we get a 2nd brood, which we shouldn't, they'll wear this skin until next April. This 'pillar's just changed, his old skin is underneath him, they usually eat it! 1 of 2

Back in 1991 I saw my 1st Pitta, which quickly became my favourite bird family. Today I saw my final “traditional”, pitta (as depicted in "Pittas, broadbills and asities"), with Eared Pitta in Khao Yai national Park this morning! A dream that has taken 34 years to fulfil. 😀
