“The American stadiums are absolutely insane. How do they have so many giant ones?” Listen. As Americans we get competitive about things that don’t matter like stadium size. Each new one is bigger and better than the previous. We mess around a lot… but not with stadiums.

RATING SPURS SIGNINGS SO FAR ANDREW ROBERTSON 8/10 He will give the squad a much needed boost. He’s a leader and at 32 still has lots of football left to play MARCO SENESI 9/10 One of the best centre backs in the league, fantastic with the ball at his feet and can defend well. Oh and let’s not forget we got him on a free JAN PAUL VAN HECKE 10/10 One of the best ball playing defenders in the world, very good in the air and still not even in his prime. He will go on to be a massive player for Spurs. Bargain at £52 million TOP TRANSFER WINDOW SO FAR

@Moodak Nothing new, both tottenham and real madrid have similar systems, Madrid is actually insane they can have their grass pitch underneath the concrete slab and keep it watered and growing

All four World Cup games today are going to be draws. I enjoy soccer, but this is clearly one of the reasons many Americans are bored by this sport.

@matthewdmarsden Actually, it's because they support and donate to groups that advocate for the use of conversion therapy. Something that has been banned all over the world. Also Popeyes is better anyway

To all the Brits trying chick fil a for the first time and realizing how awesome it is…the reason you don’t have it in the UK is because the alphabet mafia protested it because the owners are Christian. The tolerant left. Well done.

Former Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger on the Ravens I think they’re falling apart. I don’t think they’re the same team...They just feel different. They feel like their window closed...To me, losing Harbaugh, King Henry’s a year older, his body’s taking a beating, what’s was going on with Lamar last year? He just didn’t seem like the Lamar that we’ve been used to seeing"

@Michaelfiore I didn't find your post triggering, you pointed out the places FIFA has gone because of backroom deals. Any western European country could easily hold a world cup with almost zero major investment.

Those advert breaks really kill the momentum and rhythm of games. The football was good, but three minutes of being pitched washing machines and hoovers rather ruined the vibe.

@xAlexTHFC The Azteca is a 1 of a kind place. None of the US stadiums have anything like that atmosphere.

@owenthfc__ All the US stadiums are NFL stadiums, those fans only need to be loud for 15-25 seconds at a time, and the noise is just from total people. There are only a handful that truly have any feel of an English football ground.

Mainly because of the stadiums. I think the US has some really nice looking stadiums that will suit the aesthetics of a World Cup. Don't get me wrong they're not great when it comes to club football, they're hardly intimidating. But for a setting like the World Cup where it's meant to feel festive, I think they go hand in hand

Some of you can’t go one day without complaining “There’s no football being played during the day.” Maybe because it’s 7:00 a.m. on the East Coast, and you still have the West Coast, which is three hours behind that. Why would matches be scheduled around your local time? Do you expect players to be kicking off at 7:00 a.m. local time just so it lines up better for you? That’s not how international football works.

@FootballInT80s I live in canada and even I find these kick off times terrible. The last game doesn't start till 10pm my time. Which is midnight on the east coast where most people live.

When Football Was Better
When Football Was Better@FootballInT80s·
There’s a lot of discourse around the kick-off times in this World Cup. We all knew it was being held in the US, in a different time zone, didn’t we? Were the kick-off times the same in 1994, or, because England weren’t there, did we simply not notice? Or do people just enjoy finding something to be outraged by in the age of social media?

5 seconds to take a throw in 8 seconds to take a goal kick 10 seconds to make a sub 3 minutes to have a drink of water Make it make sense please. I get needing a drink in this heat but these are professional athletes. A minute should be plenty. But no FIFA have to allow the US time for an advert.

Game 3 Bosnia: played against Canada like they were a big European opponent, would’ve loved to see them get on the front foot more, ridiculous defense though to secure a point Canada: first-ever point at a World Cup and it feels like 2 dropped, really good display without two of their best players, need to start another scorer with David next time because Promise David and Larin looked very dangerous
