Years after banning Italian "pasta," a year after banning "Go Habs Go!" — the Office québécois de la langue française is now banning the Yiddish word "nosh" from the name of a small Montreal restaurant. For those who don't know, "nosh" means to nibble. montrealgazette.com/news/oqlf-targ…

@wem51 @BillHuntBits I just saw this film for the first time a couple of weeks ago and thought it was phenomenal. Spielberg's direction is outstanding throughout.

TSN loses Saturday night CFL games, which will now be exclusive to DAZN (including the first two rounds of playoffs). RDS keeps all Alouettes games despite the Alouettes owner owning TVA Sports.

"So Quebec is eliminating its sales tax on food, and some people are actually angry about it. How many countries can you think of where taxpayers get upset when a government eliminates a tax — any tax? Canada is in a strange place right now when it comes to the role of government."

@eliasmakos This is nothing new for sports broadcasting, no matter the sport. It is the sad truth.

Not sure what’s worse … 8pm games or 8pm games that go into overtime?

You’re probably talking about the Olympic tower, which was completed 11 years after Olympic Stadium opened. The tower is truly part of Montreal’s skyline, has corporate tenants, and a valid future as a tourist attraction with its funicular. The stadium has no tenants, no one who wants to willingly play inside of it, and was designed with a backwards “wide and out” seating bowl. You can spend another billion inside and it still would not be a viable stadium for sports or spectacles. Olympic Stadium should be demolished.
PhilMalo@bulletinsportif

Le stade olympique est la signature visuelle de Montréal à l'international. Tu ne démolis pas ça. Tu l'entretiens. Qu'on mette l'argent qu'il faut pour le faire revivre. Un peu de fierté!

The Kristof affair is a breaking point bc it poses the central question: are you allowed to say absolutely anything about Israel? Or are there boundaries that derive from recognizing the existence of antizionist bigotry? And so if NYT were to walk back the article, it could be significant. But exactly bc a whole complex of antizionism denial rests on not doing so, my intuition is that they will do their best to push through this one.

Thank you to the Angels for the amazing broadcast opportunities. I cherish every moment and every friend I made. It’s the great people I will miss the most. Chopping it up talking baseball with some of the best to ever do it. It will be hard to replace that. Go Halos!
Angels PR@LAAngelsPR

The #Angels released the following statement on Patrick O'Neal's departure from the broadcast team: The Angels organization would like to thank Patrick O’Neal for his 13 years of dedication to the Angels broadcast team. He brought a sense of pride to each telecast, something that was felt by Angels fans watching at home.
