@Kyubu_eth@inventur_es@BBCNews But successive Home Secretaries have set immigration limits for the past 20 years and failed to meet them. The tories were voted out in a landslide after year on year growth in migrant numbers, why are these people violently reacting now?
@willit32@inventur_es@BBCNews Agreeit’s not justified. But I think the core concern is immigration is too high. If governments were just more transparent, set an explicit limit, and then there were consequences like resignations if it was breached then the moderates on that side would feel listened to.
@Kyubu_eth@inventur_es@BBCNews About what? Immigration? Islam? I’m not quite sure what attacking black or Asian British people or smashing up and looting shops is a protest against
@Kyubu_eth@inventur_es@BBCNews I think that depends on how they enter the public discourse and whether it’s under false pretences by bad faith actors… which the current issue clearly was
@willit32@inventur_es@BBCNews Does this same dynamic not happen with most issues? For example, genuine issues, the #metoo movement for example probably exhibit the same pattern. Issues enter the zeitgeist and gain critical mass support quickly. It does not mean people are brainwashed.
@willit32@inventur_es@BBCNews But how do you know it’s just because of the right wing media? That’s a patronising view, no? The issue is very simple: should there exist an explicit limit on immigration? If yes, what is it, and do people have a right to be angry if it is exceeded without being labelled racist
@inventur_es@Kyubu_eth@BBCNews They’re attracted to these topics because the right wing media feed them it on a daily basis… the reason houses are unaffordable and the economy doesn’t serve us is not because of immigration, but it’s convenient if people have someone to demonise
@spursline@rick50654 Yeah, they only signed Watkins, Martinez, Cash, Digne, Bailey, Buendia, Traore, Diego Carlos and Duran... and got Champions League, but apart from that he was awful
@willit32@rick50654 He wasn't good during the euro or recently with everton and isn't a good fit for the way we play , but emery likes those type of midfielders (tall with a good physicality) , they have been far more active than they ever did under Lange , that was my point
