Fintech Rambling Man. Tech, geopolitics, and forward thinking. Vehemently anti-communist. Sometimes serious. Often not.

I just discovered your account from a retweet and looking through some of your posts. “Isn't this a potential national security vulnerability?” This is a good question, and an even better question is “how many of our software systems contain backdoors for India to access and offshore data?” The answer is very concerning.

I’m reminded of this every time I go into my local credit union to make a wire transfer where, after waiting for 15 minutes for the branch manager to free up, he/she grabs the one laptop they use to do wire transfers and then picks up the phone to call another human at the main office to ask how to fill out their own wire form.

This is wrong. Your mental model for bank tech should be the Adeptus Mechanicus from Warhammer 40k. Worship and veneration of ancient technology, replete with candles, incense, and gregorian chants to make your spreadsheet reload. Nobody knows why it works. You aren't allowed to change anything. The knowledge of how it was built is forever lost. But the great and powerful machine god keeps it all moving forward if you just do the rituals.

Early in my career I was selling loan doc prep systems and we had one of the newer solutions in the market. Talking with a guy at a conference who worked at one of our competitors previously, I found out that they updated their front end over the years, but they could t make any changes to back end and they had tried for more than 15 years. Why? The only person who knew how it worked because he built it, died in a car wreck in 1997. Multiple attempts to back engineer the software failed. By 2023, I had heard the same thing about 2 other software systems banks rely on. It’s crazy.

Having kids absolutely re-wires a woman’s brain. There is not a lot of studies on how the brains of men get re-wired with kids. After my wife gave birth for the first time, my sleep patterns changed dramatically. I used to be an extremely heavy sleeper. I could sleep through a fire truck siren blaring right outside my window. After we brought our first child home from the hospital, I became a very light sleeper and continue to be a light sleeper after a decade. Car door being closed at a neighbor’s house? Wide awake. Dog whimpers softly in a dream? Wide awake. Hear a floorboard creak near the kids’ bedrooms? Wide awake. Kids are everything.

We all laugh, but what’s happening here is holy. An instinct no ideology can suppress forever. Holding a baby rewires everything: your politics, your priorities, your purpose. We’ve spent decades teaching women to resist this. Imagine a world where we stopped.

You can hear it here first: Epstein was an Intel Mercenary. He provided information, facilitated arms deals, and influenced power brokers through honeypots and blackmail to many countries and prioritized 1) Israel, 2) USA/UK, 3) France and the EU, 4) Saudi. He was an FBI Confidential Informant which largely protected him from proper prosecution and punishment in the first trial.

This guy is de-redacting some of the Epstein files/emails. The Epstein saga would have normally disappeared without any attention. People have been gaslit and lied to so much by The Cathedral of Power. Both Left/Right folks are demanding answers and that scares people in power. Its fascinating.

Idea for you on this, because I love Jim Thorpe and there are many other towns in that part of PA that continue to suffer. You need to get people into town in a convenient, efficient way so they dont have to rent a car or get an expensive Uber ride. When visitors get to Jim Thorpe, they don’t need a car because the town is so walkable. Flights in are probably going to Allentown or Wilkes-Barre. Philly is 100 miles away roughly. Offer a free shuttle service collectively paid for by all the hotels and registered AirBNB owners who invest in the shuttle Co-op. Residents can pay a flat fee per trip or monthly passes to/from the airports. You need a town festival as well. Something that can grow, but attracts NYC and Philly people. Empower the local historical society to have power like the California Coastal Commission in order to enable new construction, but require construction to follow the gilded design s and look of the town.

I want to build Jim Thorpe, PAs out of gutted towns. JTPA is the North Star. Centrally planned downtown revitalizations, run 7 to 10 storefronts, get 12+ houses rebuilt, then more. Reach me if this piques your interest. I want hungry people + financing. …renbaliksalmanacandrevue.substack.com/p/i-want-to-bu…

Most political problems related to partisan politics and stalled legislation is caused by directly electing US Senators. People elect state legislatures. Legislatures appoint senators. Senators become more motivated to serve the State at the Federal level rather than national party interests. I think this is great as long as state legislators only need a 51% vote to recall a US senator if the US Senator is not serving the interests of the state and senators are limited to 2 back to back terms of appointment, but could be reappointed in mid-term appointments for deaths or ethics.

I am not so sure this is a bad idea. Changing the House and Senate to both be popularly elected has likely expanded the federal government and made politics more extreme (both answer to popular fads). Having them have different decision making incentives might be good.
Rep. Oscar De Los Santos@RepODLS

WTF?? House Republicans just introduced a measure to REPEAL the 17th Amendment of the US Constitution. They want to ban the people from voting for our US Senators. Instead, they want the Legislature to appoint our Senators. WTF are they thinking?

Looking for a stablecoin company that can do the following flow: - Take USD from a U.S Bank account - Convert into stablecoins - Move funds to Africa and Latam - Funds are able to be 'withdrawn' via local RTP rails. Needs to be usable by non-fintech/stablecoin folks.

Turn every military base — nation wide — into a power plant with tens or even hundreds of SMR’s lashed right into the local grid. Bring the cost of power down to 5¢/KwH. Would be the greatest tax cut in history.

The Northeast is burning oil and coal to keep the lights on during this winter storm. Why? Because they don't have enough natural gas pipeline capacity. And they don't have pipeline capacity because they spent a decade blocking every proposal. Some examples: Constitution Pipeline (PA to NY): Approved by FERC 2014, killed by NY water permit denial 2016 Northeast Energy Direct (PA to MA): Blocked by Massachusetts 2016 Northeast Supply Enhancement: Rejected by New York Access Northeast: Killed by MA/CT/RI opposition 2017 The stated reason for blocking? Climate and environment. The actual result? ISO New England's own analysis: "Oil and coal generators are critical on the coldest winter days when natural gas supply is constrained." Oil produces 50% more CO2 per MWh than natural gas combined cycle. Coal is worse. They blocked pipelines to fight climate change. The outcome is higher emissions during peak demand, higher electricity prices, and grid strain. Policy intended to reduce emissions is forcing the exact opposite. This is what happens when you make infrastructure decisions based on aspirational goals rather than engineering reality. Great job you guys!

A new favorite (made up) conspiracy theory is that rabies isn’t real. Rabies is a made up disease fabricated by the patriarchy to stop white women from bringing home smaller, wild animals. “That Racoon is so cute! I want to take it home.” “Brittany, no! They carry rabies.”

@mikulaja Oil. We had a geomagnetic storm hit last night and the Northern Ligjts were visible in Florida. A slightly larger storm knocks out semi conducting manufacturing and all chips busted. You can still burn oil for energy in that same scenario.

Most NATO countries had presence in Afghan/Iraq for years. The US handled their logistics. The US provided air support everywhere with some UK presence and an occasional Canadian or French aircraft. The US ran the hospitals and ensure everyone from every nation got treated in case of injury. The UK and France can power project around their coastlines and Africa. UK/French carriers only leave EU/Africa and to support US Carrier group missions in the Middle East or Asia. You can be great nations again. Love yourself again.

To się robi coraz bardziej zabawnie. Luftwaffe nie ma zdolności przerzucenia 13 niemieckich żołnierzy na Grenlandię, więc wyczarterowano samolot polskich linii Enter Air. Rozumiecie? Logistyka niemieckiej armii wisi na dobrej woli polskiego prywaciarza.
