Looking at all our starting XIs this season and i clocked when Max Alleyne played 45 minutes or more at centre back, we only lost 1 in 14. The other being when Bola and Ngakia start together in a back four (20 times), we’ve only lost 6

@scout_aussie Just don’t think Watford 442 brexit ball is helping him develop that. He is either isolated up top or spending 80% of the game defending at RM. their tactics are woeful and hard to watch

“Happy with the goal from open play - the runs in behind - what the boss wants”. Instructive comments here from Nestor Irankunda (2006). Since leaving Adelaide, he has only scored twice from open play at club level - and only once from inside the box. Irankunda is a truly outstanding ball striker, one of the best Australia has ever produced. In the A-League, he was able to use this to great effect - consistently scoring goals with powerful strikes. But against much better keepers, first in Switzerland and now in England, he has struggled to have the same success. Popović has hinted at this a couple of times and listening to Irankunda’s answer, it is clear that getting such a brilliant ball-striker taking shots closer to goal is a real priority for the Socceroos. That’s why it probably delighted both Popović and Irankunda that the latter scored twice from inside the box vs. Curaçao. As eye-catching as his wonderstrikes for Watford have been, they are naturally less repeatable than scoring from inside the box. If he can make goals like his second vs. Curaçao a habit, where he slipped behind the defence for an easy finish, he can become a prolific goalscorer at high levels. He has the speed, timing, ball-striking and physicality to do that.

@willth_10 @Tracy_A_73 Think it was just banter and he just done it because irankunda said he would do it against us if he scored

Perhaps a big brained take but the more I think about it the more I think that all managers and head coaches, outside of the top 10%; are a much of a muchness and the idea of good is matching the players skillet and the idea of bad is not matching the players skillset

Midfield Pairs Attacking Profiles: -Hackney with Morris/Browne lead attacking involvement score. -Coventry score well and Rudoni scores higher than Torp. -Watford pair of Louza/Mendy lead attacking output, James/Skipp also score highly. -Norwich and QPR score relatively well.

@willth_10 @ChampionshipDat Yeah and being a midfielder doesn’t just mean you should be good at attacking, thought that’d be obvious

Annoying, yet predictable. Second half of Wrexham carried over. Injuries in attacking areas have killed our ability to make changes. If only our ex head coach didn’t turn down multiple players

I genuinely think those three pens from Midtyjlland are the worst three I’ve ever seen. Two off the post and the last one double kicked, slipped, over. Christ
