How did you hear about Carnivore? I first heard it from @SBakerMD on youtube. I had been following him since 2019 and liked what he was sharing during covid. Then I began watching @KenDBerryMD and @anthony_chaffee Everything they were saying just made sense. I had been overweight or obese for 32 years. I did lose a large amount of weight once in my life through exercise and eating a low-fat diet, but eventually I gained a lot of the weight back. At almost 46 years old, I was feeling defeated. I was developing health issues that weren't resolving. I was trying to finally get my weight under control once and for all. For almost two years, I had been eating a diet high in plant-based foods, high complex carbs, high fiber, and lean meats. I lost a little weight but I was struggling. Nothing was getting better. In May 2023, I took a leap of faith and went Carnivore. I love meat so it wasn't difficult to make the change, but as a nurse who specializes in CVICU, I struggled with doing a diet that was completely opposite of everything I was taught about nutrition, and everything I learned as a cardiac nurse. So, it took some courage and faith to make the change and see if it would benefit me. I decided to give it a try for 30 days. Almost immediately, I felt so many changes that I didn't even expect. I had heard stories, but until I experienced it for myself, I really didn't know how beneficial it could be. Once I hit 30 days, I felt so great that I thought, "I'll do it for 90." Once I hit 90, I increased it to 6 months. It was at the 6-month mark that I didn't even recognize myself anymore. I was healthier, fitter, leaner, and stronger than I had ever been in my entire life, EVER!! Plus, every single health issue was gone. I even got rid of health issues that I didn't even know were issues. It was like my body completely reset itself. I truly believe that, even though I thought I was eating healthy at times, I had been starving my body of true nutrition most of my life. Throughout the past 2.5 years, there have been times I've tried to add some plant-based carbs or sugars back into my diet. It usually happens during vacations or visiting with family. Rice, potatoes, breads, fruits, some ice cream, etc. But, all they do is make me feel bloated, sluggish, have cravings, put on weight and fat, and just feel terrible, which is the same way I felt before going carnivore. Going carnivore has helped me realize that everything I had been taught and conditioned to believe about nutrition is wrong. Terms like "bioavailability" and "nutrient-dense" became so easy to understand. I realized just how toxic things like oxalates, phytic acids, and lectins are. I realized how much of an impact sugar has on the body, and the addiction it can cause. I realized how many unnatural man-made toxins the body can naturally taste and smell when it's not being overloaded with excess carbs, sugars, and processed foods. Most of all, I recognized a truly healthy me. The woman I had been dying to see my whole life. The woman who was beneath the fatty exterior, the woman who always had a smile on her face but was broken inside, the woman who so desperately wants to live a nice long healthy active happy life. I am that woman now. 💪🥩🥚🧈

@GuntherEagleman It's all fraud! CA claims to spend over $40k per year per person. There's no way a homeless person living on the street costs $40k. That was my annual salary in 2014, and I was a single mom with 2 kids. The homeless "crisis" is all driven by fraud!

@wilsonhlthcoach I’d never really heard of fasting. I was brought up 3 squares - breakfast the most important meal of the day.

I used to think: - Fasting breaks down muscle - Breakfast should be high-carb - Carbs provide better energy than fat - Eat first thing in the morning - Eat before a workout - Eating every 2-3 hours boosts metabolism Now I know that was all nonsense.

"A well-balanced diet is the healthiest way to eat." "You shouldn't cut out certain foods because then you won't get the nutrients you need." "Everything in moderation is okay." What is "well-balanced?" Well-balanced means something different for different people, especially if there are chronic health conditions involved. For people who have always been fit or healthy, have always had normal metabolic health, what they consider well-balanced will be different than someone who has always been obese, developed health issues, and has poor metabolic health. For me, well balanced is: - Eating foods that keep me healthy, strong, active, & feeling good with plenty of energy - Foods that reduce stress and pain on my body - Foods that give me plenty of bioavailable nutrients and provide satiety - Avoiding foods that cause health problems for me - Avoiding foods that cause cravings What does that look like for me? Eating a diet of meat, eggs, butter, salt, sometimes dairy. That's it. That's all I need. How do I know that's all I need? Because I now listen to my body instead of listening to people tell me what foods are good for my body.

I know a married couple who says that anyone who protects pedophiles is a horrible human. But, they're liberal and vote for politicians in their blue state who protect pedophiles. The worst part, they named their son after a pedophile in their own family. And yes, they already knew what the man had done to the little girls in the family. They named their kid after the guy anyway 🤷‍♀️

I once read that anything past 72hrs can begin using around 0.5lbs of muscle for energy. I don't know if that's true because I have done a few fasts longer than that and didn't see a change in muscle. I believe that's why some people do a protein-sparing fast. But I always believed that just fasting in general, even for only 12-16hrs or so, can ruin muscle.

A friend on Facebook: "Being an adult means you realize that meat is part of a meal, not the entire meal. You need to mix in veggies, whole grains, fiber. In my 20s, I used to eat just meat for a meal, nothing else. No sides, no vegetables, nothing. Thank goodness I matured." It's so cute when I see 30-somethings who have always been fit and healthy, who have never struggled with weight issues or health problems, make posts like this. I used to be just like this in my 20s, 30s, and early 40s, encouraging this same type of diet. And I was extremely overweight. Every time I tried to eat this way, I always struggled. Then, in my 40s, I began developing health issues, and I tried this way of eating once more. I lost some weight but still struggled. Then I started carnivore. Eating only meat and eggs has made me the healthiest I've ever been in my life. If that makes me immature, oh well. I'd rather be an immature fit and healthy woman than a dead one.

Day 61 Morning Glucose - 90 BP - 110/73 Yesterday evening she used the bike peddler. I had to clean her linens, and it was a great time for her to sit up in the chair riding her "bike." Her BP sitting up in the chair was 100/72. Great! She didn't feel dizzy or lightheaded. She peddled off and on for over an hour, and said she could feel the burn in her legs. Good sign! But, prior to sitting in the chair and peddling, her blood sugar was 101. It jumped to 210 after peddling. I had to give her 4u of insulin. All night long, her blood sugars were 80s-90s and she woke up with a decent BP. I kept track of our little activated charcoal experiment. Although I saw a completely back to normal color stool at 10am, she had more stool throughout the day that was back to dark grey/ash color. I put this info into my ongoing grok conversation, and the info I got said that it's possible some of the charcoal capsules are moving slower than others, which means it's possible that her gut might be slowing down a bit. I'm a nurse, so I always expect the worst but hope for the best. So here's me hoping for the best and we start to see more improvement as the days go on. Since her shin injury a few days ago, she hasn't been walking around or been on the rower. Today, I wanted to work in my little garden and screw down boards to the sides of the raised beds so when we start planting in May, she has somewhere to sit and help plant. I told her I wanted her to come outside and keep me company. I didn't expect her to help because of her injury and her BP issues when standing for too long, but I wanted her outside for some fresh air. Her exercise today was using her walker to go out to the backyard and sit in a lounge chair. About 75' one way. She had to use her upper body strength with the walker quite a bit when stepping with her injured leg, but she did it. Her blood sugar increased with the activity today just like it did yesterday. She was 109 pre-exercise, and 190 post-exercise. But, as soon as she got back to her room and sat down, I took her BP. 78/58, heart rate of 122. I know that her BP was on the lower side, but that's the highest I've ever seen her HR along with an adequate BP since she's been home. Usually, I see a systolic pressure in the 50s with a heart rate no higher than 110. That tells me that her heart is beginning to develop better cardio health with maintaining a BP that doesn't drastically drop. Her heart wants to work. That's a good sign. Today, she's eaten a total of: 2900 calories 290g protein 167g fat 67g carbs The carbs are mainly from the dairy in her mug cakes. I also make those cakes using duck eggs. - Breakfast: 2 eggs & 1 duck egg scrambled, & 2 all beef hot dogs. Chocolate protein powder mug cake. - Lunch: 1 chicken tender, 2 string cheeses. Lemon vanilla protein powder mug cake with plain greek yogurt. - Snack: 2 string cheeses. - Dinner: 8oz baked salmon, steamed broccoli & cauliflower with butter & salt. Lemon vanilla protein powder mug cake with yogurt. The best part about watching her diet is that even if I don't see a big difference in her weight yet, I see a difference in her appetite. For example, today, she went 5hrs between breakfast and lunch. Last night, the last time she ate was at 1900, then didn't eat again until 0845. When she first moved home, she was in the fridge almost every hour, and at least 2-3 times per night. That's a sure sign that she's getting some good nutrients. Even if she's not absorbing all of them, she's still getting more than what she was getting. We keep pluggin' along. One day at a time 🙏

@adviceforbernie She had another fall coming out of the bathroom. She got dizzy, more than likely because her BP dropped, and she fell hitting her shin on the door frame. For most people, it would just be a bruise. But she's so thin and frail that it did more damage.

Yes, mostly from dairy. Cottage cheese, milk, plain yogurt. Her protein powders do have a little carbs because they are whey based and also have a small amount of maple sugar. Her chocolate powder is 5g, and vanilla is 7g. Also, my keto app shows eggs, spam, hot dogs, and string cheese all have a little bit of carbs, so that's added into her daily carb total, but they don't affect her.

@wilsonhlthcoach When one starts with “being an adult means” I generally turn them off. For what follows is meant to insult a decision or action. This type of discussion is unhealthy at best because it is severely opinionated and doesn’t lend to discussion of the subject.
