For me, just 3 things are critical for Intel 1Q'25 earnings. 1. Insufficient Intel 7 capacity to support the surge demand of Raptor Lake. 2. Insourcing ~70% of die area for PTL and more wafers back on Intel process for NVL. 3. Long term capital intensity to be ~25% as an IDM.

@witeken To be fair they are pulling in other things not density related. Intel went for performance on 18A and TSMC went for density on 2nm. Intel's 18A is more like TSMC's 3nm in logic density. It looks like both are going to focus on shoring up the short comings for 14A and A14.

Rumor: Intel has placed 2nm orders to TSMC for next-generation compute chips (chiplets, or tiles), media report, now prepping for trial production in Hsinchu, Taiwan. Intel and TSMC both declined comment. Media speculate the 2nm tile will be the Nova Lake PC processor. Last year, Intel’s former CEO confirmed TSMC would manufacture the compute tiles of 2 processors, Lunar Lake and Arrow Lake, notebook and AI PC processors.
