The whole Grammy thing getting into everybody’s head really started around 2021. Before that, it wasn’t this deep. When Wizkid lost for One Dance, nobody made noise because it wasn’t a big deal. When Burna Boy lost with African Giant, same thing nobody cared like that. Then 2021 came. Wizkid won his first Grammy the same night Burna Boy also won his. Wizkid fans were celebrating heavy, and about 20 minutes later Burna came out saying “i did it alone”. That’s when the whole “Gumbody” vs “main act” argument started. Fast forward to 2022: Wizkid lost his nominations as a lead artist, and the internet was on fire. Davido even did interviews and basically said, “If na Headies you win, fine.” Nobody was preaching peace then. Since then, Burna Boy has lost about 10 times he got dragged and trolled, nobody called for peace. Wizkid lost three times after that, same thing no peace talks. But now suddenly, peace has value because it’s Davido? That’s the hypocrisy people are calling out.
