What's wrong with Europe? Inflexibility. *Total^ inflexibility. Tonight, in one of the most famous hotels in Berlin, I got a dish that was quite inedible, rancid; without ostentatiously returning it back I mention the problem, and they take it. They apologize. Nobody offers to make up for it. nor not to change it.

@wrklsshrd @FulhamFC Ended up going there in the end which is not always possible for most people. I’m sure the extra seats per STH has complicated things as the staff were taken up with allocating those seats. They should have stuck with one seat per STH.

@FulhamFC you need to postpone the end of the season ticket hold period - there are too many people facing problems getting tickets for family members. E.g. I can't seem to book the ticket for my dad's reserved spot.

@FulhamFC It’s a shambles. My ticket is reserved on my account but the other 2 STH, one being only 7 years old are not able to register and I can only link them by phoning which is a joke. All it’s saying is phone back they’re busy. Am now having to go to the ticket office.

@TomBaldwin66 No one got near hitting them though. Turned out to be another self-own for the Tories. Labour should recognise that the limits are too high and lower them again. Agree about between-elections, but would question the effectiveness of it.

@wrklsshrd Spending limits doubled in the last UK election largely because they were spending so much on political ads online. And if someone tries to buy British politics between elections with targeted issue-based ads, there’s no law to stop them.

I wrote a book, “Ctrl Alt Delete,” which argued the UK should ban paid-for political advertising on social media in the same way as a broadcast block on political ads has benefitted our democracy for decades. But Elon Musk makes the case better than me. thetimes.com/uk/politics/ar…

@TomBaldwin66 I'd argue that political ads help centrists try to combat populism, which still seems to be favoured by algorithms.

@TomBaldwin66 Isn't that what spending limits are for? And banning foreign donations? And fixing party finances? They are the primary sources of risk in UK politics I think.

The fancier the airport lounge, the louder and more "serious" the phone conversations seem. Where I am, a man is pacing back and forth talking about "the model" and "the roadmap" and seems quite agitated.

The likeliest outcome in the US is, of course, that TV gets deregulated. In Europe, it points the other way.

One interesting thing about Trump getting cross about a lack of balance when Harris was on SNL is that SNL gets about 5 million viewers, yet is subject to all sorts of media regulation (which is what annoyed him). Rogan gets 11 million listeners/viewers per episode.
