SquiggleDAO has placed Squiggle #4812 at the PoCo Museum in Estonia and it will be on display until Spring 2027! 🎉🎉🎉 PoCo Museum is an important cultural institution because it bridges contemporary pop culture with art, design, and digital creativity, helping legitimize modern and emerging art forms within a museum context. Located in Estonia, a country widely recognized for its digital innovation, the museum plays a key role in introducing new audiences to forward-thinking creative movements, including digital and generative art. By engaging younger collectors, international visitors, and culturally curious audiences, PoCo positions contemporary digital art as part of a broader cultural narrative rather than a niche trend. The Pop and Contemporary Art Museum in Tallinn houses works by major international pop art figures, including Andy Warhol, Banksy, Jeff Koons, Roy Lichtenstein, Keith Haring, Damien Hirst, and Yayoi Kusama. This allows visitors to experience pop art classics alongside contemporary works, offering a comprehensive view of the movement’s evolution from the mid-20th century to today. Within this context, the addition of a Chromie Squiggle, on public display starting January 23rd until Spring of 2027 is especially significant. Placing on chain generative digital art in direct dialogue with some of the most influential artists in modern and contemporary art history.

just finished writing the final poem in my Being Borges series (at least, finished for now). so bittersweet to see the collection come to a close. at least, feel this final work does the moment justice. feels to me (at least) like a special poem.

when I bought a set of USBs last year, my husband made fun of me. aren't you supposed to be a techno-poet? he asked, you know, no one uses those anymore. actually, institutions use them, often requiring "hard" versions of digital files they acquire. USBs have become synonymous w institutional acquisitions of my work and their small, rectangular forms are sources of joy. tomorrow Ropa sucia 2/3, with accompanying USB, heads to its forever home at @la_march_madrid. more digital documentation to come. cc @6529Museum

QQL Monthly is back! To kick things off, we’re looking for new seeds generated in 2026 only. We want to see how you explore the edges of the algorithm: small, large, wild, not... explosive, random, vertical... play with color, turbulence, rings. Or go completely random, hit generate without selecting a thing, and watch the surprises flow across the screen. There are no limits other than the year of creation. To check when a seed was generated, open the seed to view all traits. At the very bottom, you’ll see what year it was created. This seed was created in 2026 with random traits. An atmosphere soft shapes reaching toward wide, open views, showing how simple rules can create endless possibilities. A special thanks to Alohi for leading this month's theme! Submissions open January 15 in the Tyler Hobbs Discord.

send/receive update There are over 1000 tokens configured with a sprite and set to send and over 500 set to receive on the send/receive network. 8968 editions were minted for free over the claim window and I set the final edition size to a clean 10k. The remaining mints will be used as an onboarding mechanism to introduce on chain interactive and participatory art to new people as I continue on my mission to make what we do around here interesting and compelling to new audiences. Seeing this many people interact with the work has been super meaningful, and I'm excited to keep expanding on the project over time. I particularly enjoyed having my kids log into @artblocks with an email which generates a @privy_io embedded wallet and guiding them through the process of purchasing a mint off secondary and configuring it (after I funded the wallet with a bit of ETH). Once they set it up they ran to the living room where we have a receiving token set up and watched and waited until their's appeared. We sit around and watch the live view often pointing out all the fun sprites but when they saw theirs they got REALLY excited and continue to do so as they walk past it and see their contribution every day. I think there's something really interesting about all this. Seeing yourself in a networked artwork like this seems to be compelling to folks, and I am excited to watch the network of sprites grow over time. I'm especially excited about the perpetual nature of the work, and the fact that all of the information and logic is on chain in a way where it should continue to operate as long as the @ethereum blockchain continues to produce blocks. Am also shocked at how cheap the customization of it is. You're storing a lot of info on chain for less than $1. Was always worried about this being on L1 and I know we can't count on this forever but really really pleased with the low cost to participate. If you have a token and haven't set it up yet just know it's super easy and smooth thanks to the Art Blocks UI that the team built. But if you're still intimidated maybe consider commissioning your favorite pixel artist to create a sprite for you. Anyways make sure and check into a live view every now and then to see all the sprites that have been created by the community. Change up your send/receive state or swap out your sprite when you're feeling it. I hope you're enjoying the experience of on chain participatory networked art as much as I am.

“Ethereum was not created to make finance efficient or apps convenient. It was created to set people free” This was an important - and controversial - line from the Trustless Manifesto ( trustlessness.eth.limo ), and it is worth revisiting it and better understanding what it means. “efficient” and “convenient” have the connotation of improving the average case, in situations where it’s already pretty good. Efficiency is about telling the world's best engineers to put their souls into reducing latency from 473 ms to 368ms, or increasing yields from 4.5% APY to 5.3% APY. Convenience is about people making one click instead of three, and reducing signup times from 1 min to 20 sec. These things can be good to do. But we must do them under the understanding that we will never be as good at this game as the Silicon Valley corporate players. And so the primary underlying game that Ethereum plays must be a different game. What is the game? Resilience. Resilience is the game where it’s not about 4.5% APY vs 5.3% APY - rather, it’s about minimizing the chance that you get -100% APY. Resilience is the game where if you become politically unpopular and get deplatformed, or if a the developers of your application go bankrupt or disappear, or if Cloudflare goes down, or if an internet cyberwar breaks out, your 2000ms latency continues to be 2000ms. Resilience is the game where anyone, anywhere in the world will be able to access the network and be a first-class participant. Resilience is sovereignty. Not sovereignty in the sense of lobbying to become a UN member state and shaking hands at Davos in two weeks, but sovereignty in the sense that people talk about "digital sovereignty" or "food sovereignty" - aggressively reducing your vulnerabilities to external dependencies that can be taken away from you on a whim. This is the sense in which the world computer can be sovereign, and in doing so make its users also sovereign. This baseline is what enables interdependence as equals, and not as vassals of corporate overlords thousands of kilometers away. This is the game that Ethereum is suited to win, and it delivers a type of value that, in our increasingly unstable world, a lot of people are going to need. The fundamental DNA of web2 consumer tech is not suited to resilience. The fundamental DNA of _finance_ often spends considerable effort on resilience, but it is a very partial form of resilience, good at solving for some types of risks but not others. Blockspace is abundant. Decentralized, permissionless and resilient blockspace is not. Ethereum must first and foremost be decentralized, permissionless and resilient block space - and then make that abundant.
