@Tomonabike46 @DudleyNature Here's to many more 😁. At least we've got a new location for a pit fall trap now.

This gall is caused by the Yellow flat-footed fly (Agathomyia wankowiczii).
An orange coloured fly and the only invertebrate in Britain to cause a gall on fungus.
Very happy to add this to the site species list 😁. Saltwells NNR,Dudley

@ChaterTodd Yes to clouded funnel, well that's what I got it too also, there's a small patch of blewits by them as well.
It's been a very odd year for fungi so far loads of the usual finds haven't made an appearance. Good year for deceivers and saddle fungi though.

Is that Clouded Funnel at the back of the snipe? @yelloowec …and where are the rest of the fungi this year? Seem a really poor year to now? Hardly seen a waxcap

Can anyone identify the passenger on this spider ?
I'm guessing a parasite of some description?
Any help greatly appreciated.
@BritishSpiders

English

@yelloowec @BritishSpiders The spider is Clubiona comta.
English

@BritishSpiders @TimothyJonas Thank you so much for the help, I wish I had kept it now !
English

@yelloowec You're right - it's the larva of a parasitic wasp. @TimothyJonas has a great account of one of these from this stage through to adulthood at jonasweb.co.uk/Spiders/parasi….
English

@ChaterTodd Definitely a slime mold probably one of the Tubifera species.

@andyshawbirds1 @DudleyNature @EcoRecording We had our fingers crossed they were still on site but they seem to be more elusive than the frogs.
Might look to do some evening surveys in the spring 👍

@yelloowec @DudleyNature @EcoRecording Ironically he currently has loads in his garden not far from you up Heath rd!

It's been years since Toads have been recorded on site but this little guy made an appearance today whilst we were working on the wet meadow in the Claypit 😁.

@vc40ladybirds @DudleyNature @EcoRecording Challenge accepted....might take me a while though I've been looking for water ladybird for five years 😂
English

Water Ladybird has finally been tracked down by Mark Webster on site.
Mark found them 2 weeks ago, the first record since 1981.
I managed a quick look today and found both the colour variations on Bulrush.
