Any furries that hold cry/pto bullshit will have made bank off this. For a lot of people, what they say they are going to vote for, and what they actually vote for, can be two very different things. Fascism is the symptom, capitalism is the disease. I dunno

@swifty_awoo @RamenDeer Yeah, I think we need to be mindful not accepting organised or corporate takeover of the space.

@zeefuzz @RamenDeer Good point. I'd also argue that furry is nearing a critical point where it's a lot more socially acceptable. That I think will bring some negatives, such a loss of sincerity when social capital is a thing that can be attained from it.

This straight up happened in the furry fandom. Covid exploded the fandom with a lot of younger gen ppl with these exact thought processes.

@swifty_awoo @RamenDeer Being part of the current in group give you a lot of power to point that direction. Personally I think it’s important not to gatekeep newcomers and make sure a space can feel welcome to them as well without sacrificing norms established to keep it as a safer space.

@swifty_awoo @RamenDeer Having a new congregation of people joining any social space is going to come with some friction of them not being privy to a history of established norms. That’s not necessarily a bad thing as it forces the space to reassert important norms and work to break others.

Crazy how it's gotten almost impossible to get a room at any bigger convention. Didn't directly score one for neither NFC nor MFF. Though I'm happy the lottery system provides a fair chance for furs who never went!
