When naming things, don't think about what to call them. Think about what you'd call the opposite, then the opposite of that. I don't know why this works, but it does.

@emollick There’s an intuitive argument we will see gains as far as our quality training data goes. Improvement will continue in disciplines where the production of new high quality training data is most possible and affordable

I think AI will transform work because it already is capable of doing so. And this year is likely to push things much further. But will gains continue year-on-year order of magnitude improvements?
Maybe, but no one knows for sure, and there is not enough data for predictions.

Predicting technological growth is hard: just because a technology is improving exponentially doesn’t mean that this will continue.
Look at this chart projecting the future of airplane speeds from the 1950s, during a time of exponential technological gains. Then look at reality.

@Noahpinion It’s going to be really bad for everyone. Except those who take out debt to buy hard assets & have the debt collapse. Then will be an interesting moment where there will be a degree of freedom on how to rebuild the system

@Noahpinion Foreign currencies are losing strength vs $. Since they must service debt in USD, there will be an up as they try to acquire & then a down when there’s not enough. At the end, the fed will start printing so much to prevent collapse/supply usd to other countries…

The Fed is intent on bringing down inflation. This will hurt the U.S. labor market. But whether it will hurt it a lot or a little is an open question.
