Seed oils are ubiquitous and were once unnoticed, but now removing them is earning restaurants Michelin awards. Los Felix and Krüs Kitchen are the first in Miami to win Green Stars, for eliminating seed oils, sourcing locally and using grass fed meats. miamiherald.com/miami-com/rest…

@chriscardinal Hi Chris, we're sorry to see that your bottles arrived dented. Sometimes, shipping can be harder on our bottles than we'd like. We'd appreciate if you could email us at hello@zeroacre.com so we can make things right. Thank you for bringing this to our attention!

@ZeroAcreFarms kinda weird to me that 3/4 of my bottles were dented, even though the box seemed fine? Don't think it's too big a deal, but just pointing it out

At Zero Acre, we work with cultures that most efficiently produce healthy oils in a sustainable way, specifically algae and yeast. Algae and yeast are the most productive cultures when it comes to the fermentation of sugar into oil. And yes, the process is similar to how cows and other ruminant animals break down the fibers and sugars in plants (typically grasses) and convert them into short-chain fatty acids, with the help of microbial cultures in their guts.

@ZeroAcreFarms So the oil comes from the yeast/bacteria? Much like cows get their fat intake from the bacteria fermenting the grass they eat?

Thanks for asking! Zero Acre oil is made by fermenting raw sugar from sugarcane. The sugar is naturally broken down and converted into oil – just as fermentation converts sugar into alcohol to make beer or wine. The oil is then separated by expeller-pressing, without the use of harsh chemical solvents like hexane.

@TuckerGoodrich Never asked or investigated this, but since this oil is from fermentation, I guess it is phytosterol free as well?

To bring the land savings to life, Hopdoddy is giving away FREE FRIES until 10/31 (details below) to anyone who takes a photo on their "9 sq ft" in-store decal, which represents how much less land is required to make one order of fries with Zero Acre oil instead of soybean oil.

Why is Zero Acre oil so much more environmentally friendly? It's made from the highest yielding crop in the world – sugarcane. Sugarcane is a perennial, rain-fed crop (not an irrigated annual monocrop). That means less land, less CO2, and less water.

There are no new or novel compounds in Zero Acre oil. It’s made up of about 93% monounsaturated fat, 4% saturated fat, and 3% polyunsaturated fat. The full detailed fatty acid profile can be found on our website or on every bottle of oil at scan.zeroacre.com. The oil has gone through a standard safety process and has met the criteria required to achieve its FDA GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) designation status.
