Venezuela seized, securing Western Hemisphere heavy crude. Iran’s military destroyed, Hormuz taken through blockade. Saudi pipeline bypass activated, redirecting Gulf crude to the Atlantic. 40-nation coalition forming to permanently internationalize Hormuz security. And now Indonesia elevated to Major Defense Cooperation Partnership, positioning the US at the other end of China’s energy lifeline. Every single move reduces China’s energy independence. Beijing currently has no way to import oil at scale that doesn’t pass through a chokepoint the United States either controls directly or has a military partnership adjacent to.
