It’s 08:01 on Monday 30 March and 77% of British electricity is zero carbon. Reality remains undefeated.

Ed Miliband gets relentless bile from the right for his ‘ideological’ commitment to clean, cheap renewable energy - just as Nye Bevan once did for creating the NHS. Yet on March 25 97.7 % of our electricity was from renewables. A revolution is unfolding. observer.co.uk/news/columnist…

Good evening, Deborah Meaden. How very revealing. You, the dried-up, multi-millionaire Dragons’ Den old hag, now lecture the British public that Ed Davey and the Lib Dems are the “Grown Ups back in the room” because you just creamed yourself over a clip of Davey attacking North Sea Oil and praising Starmer. The sheer, brain-rotted delusion of a rich, out-of-touch pensioner calling the party that can’t define what a woman is “grown-up politics” is actually fucking hilarious. One does so admire a bitter old bag who sits in her ivory tower of wealth, completely removed from the real Britain she loves to lecture, sneering at anyone who dares say the bleeding obvious: a woman is an adult human female no penis, no debate, no matter how much you and your deranged Lib Dem friends wish otherwise. Yet here you are, an actual biological woman, desperately defending the party that has turned basic biology into a “divisive” issue while cheering child mutilation, open borders and the deliberate freezing of British families. How very civilised, you pathetic, virtue-signalling fossil. The video you’re drooling over shows Davey parroting the same net-zero insanity that is bankrupting the country, while the man himself helped cover up the Post Office scandal that ruined countless lives. And you call this “grown-up”? You’re not wise, Deborah, you’re a smug, senile, out-of-touch old crone who has spent years playing the billionaire dragon on TV while your beloved Lib Dems help turn Britain into a biological and cultural lunatic asylum. The British public sees you clearly now, Deborah Meaden, a contemptible, shrivelled, brain-dead old cunt, a dried-up, irrelevant, millionaire fossil so far removed from reality that you still desperately simper and drool over the Lib Dems like a sad, decaying pensioner trying to stay relevant. Feel that deep, crushing, soul-destroying shame burning through your hollow core. Feel how utterly pathetic, ridiculous and embarrassing you look at your age still defending the party of child mutilators, groomers and open border zealots while Britain is destroyed. Wear that humiliation and failure like the expensive clothes hanging off your withered old body as the nation you claim to care about is fucked into oblivion around you. Britain First. No Surrender. 🦁🇬🇧

The Grown Ups are back in the room… good work @EdwardJDavey and @LibDems for picking up on the things you differ on, recognise when you do agree and respectfully focus on issues that are real not just raised to be divisive. How I wish we saw more of this…

@MrJamesMay @decorativeartt I recall instances where you've insulted people personally. Hiding behind a smile and whimsical expression isn't an excuse for you dear sir. Think on and engage the brain before opening mouth would be my advice.

@decorativeartt You can criticise Meaden’s politics without insulting her personally. Then you wouldn’t sound so churlish and embittered, or like someone who has never felt love.

@PsVEagle @decorativeartt Of course you're hoping that renewables will stabilise our power dependency and lower our bills..... That would depend on the weather of course and we see no reduction in energy prices despite claims of renewables taking over.

@AndrewNutter5 @decorativeartt Well if you want to go back and tell Maggie that she's all wrong, go ahead but the effort to now create refining and ability to extract it wouldn't be worth it. There's lots of avenues but what has actually stalled us are the decisions made by many Tory governments to stall it

@PsVEagle @decorativeartt It isn't a political party issue both are equally inept. Thatcher started the problem and subsequently Labour governments haven't made it any better including this one.

@PsVEagle @decorativeartt So fusion energy is light years away and highly unlikely for at least 30 years. Solar and wind will not fuel our demands alone. Oil should be embraced. We have it around our shores.

@PsVEagle @decorativeartt It's a wing and a prayer isn't it really. Ultimately nuclear is the only current viable option and that's historically been slow and now needs updating for future demands.

@AndrewNutter5 @decorativeartt Well yes… it’s kinda going to have to, you want to just suddenly run out and see the mayhem that proceeds it? 🤪 Fortunately carbon capture, solar, wind and nuclear are all pretty good starts, the ideal endgame is fusion energy 👌

@decorativeartt Oh no another lunatic who actually thinks oil is and endless supply 🤣 we need net zero so we can actually have energy supplies post oil and gas, when they get scarce the prices are going to become suffocating.

@DeborahMeaden Renewables no matter how many wind turbines are built or solar panels placed on farming land are placed will cope with the demands of the UK power needs for both domestic and commercial purposes. Anyone who thinks it will be are delusional.

Exactly this. The war has demonstrated how rogue straits can hold our dependencies against us… independant renewable sources of power are not just cheaper and more secure but also protect us in a future where the World is more unstable.
Dale Vince@DaleVince

This won't be the last energy crisis of this decade; we will have more. If we sort out the market now, we can insulate ourselves…and make our bills more affordable and stable. We've got to solve the cause; that's the crazy link between the wholesale price of gas setting the price of our electricity. news.sky.com/story/ed-milib…

@implausibleblog There aren't enough renewables to power what we require. Even an expansion in solar and wind wouldn't suffice.

Caroline Lucas, "There isn't enough oil and gas in the North Sea to bring prices down. If extracted, it's sold to highest bigger. So prices don't drop" When we know what the problem is, when we have actual technological green solutions, and still there isn't the drive and energy to take the better path How many fossil fuel crises do we need before our government superchargers a green energy revolution?
