REALLY hated the initial trade up for Delane, but after seeing how the rest of this draft has played out, you gotta admit that Veach and his team killed it this year.

In the past two drafts, the Chiefs have spent this capital on corners:
CB Nohl Williams: 85 (2025), 125 (2026)
CB Mansoor Delane: 6, 74, 148 (2026)
Slot Jadon Canady: 109 (2026)
That’s a huge investment for a team that has typically been great at finding this position late.

Like this...I don't think we need to read into this draft this much.
It was always a deeper and better draft for defensive players and the defense lost a bunch of talent in FA.
I think they are just acknowledging that and not reaching for offensive talent just to do it.

The Chiefs clearly believe that the best way to set up the rest of Mahomes’ career right now is to just give him the most stacked defense possible. I’m not saying they’re wrong, but it’s certainly an interesting approach
