In the wake of a heartbreaking tragedy at Bargi Dam, Bombay Sappers’ combat divers were air-inducted overnight to Jabalpur. Searching unforgiving waters at first light, they work with skill and compassion. Swift in response, steadfast in duty—the Corps of Engineers’ Bombay Sappers continues to serve the nation with skill, resolve, and compassion in its hour of need. 🇮🇳 #BombaySappers #IndianArmy #NationFirst

With deep sorrow, we bid farewell to Brig Ashni Kumar Sahni, VSM (Retd), a proud Bombay Sapper and an officer who embodied dedication, quiet excellence, and lifelong service to the nation. Commissioned into the Bombay Sappers in 1957, he served across multiple Engineer Regiments and key appointments—from field companies to instructional tenures at CME & Mhow, to senior leadership roles in Central Command and Corps HQ. His career reflects the depth, versatility, and professionalism that define the Corps of Engineers. Post retirement in 1990, he remained a respected veteran presence, carrying forward the values of the Sappers fraternity. He passed away on 20 Apr 2026 at Noida, leaving behind a legacy of honour and service. He is survived by his wife and sons. The Bombay Sappers stand united in grief and remembrance. Sarvatra. Sapper Forever. #BombaySappers #CorpsOfEngineers #IndianArmy #InMemory #Respect

The Italian Campaign (1943–45) remains a distinguished chapter in the history of the Bombay Sappers, whose professionalism and courage were instrumental in Allied success. Often described as an “Engineer’s War,” the campaign placed immense demands on combat engineers, as operational progress depended on the rapid construction and maintenance of routes, bridges, and communication lines. The Bombay Sapper units—21 Field Company, 97 Field Company, and 301 Field Park Company—served with distinction, undertaking critical tasks under constant enemy observation and fire. During the Battle of Monte Cassino, 21 Field Company played a pivotal role in developing the renowned Cavendish Road, transforming a narrow mountain track into a vital route for vehicles and tanks, despite severe terrain and weather conditions. Throughout the campaign, the Sappers ensured mobility by constructing and maintaining bridges, clearing extensive minefields, and sustaining key supply routes. Their relentless efforts enabled the advance from Cassino to the Gothic Line and supported continuous Allied operations in challenging conditions. The Bombay Sappers’ contribution exemplifies exceptional skill, resilience, and dedication, leaving a lasting legacy of excellence in military engineering. #IndianArmy #BombaySappers #MilitaryHistory

Proud legacy unfolds … PVC Day (11 April 1948). A day forever enshrined in the proud legacy of ‘The Bombay Sappers’. Second Lieutenant RR Rane embodied the very soul of a Sapper—proving, beyond doubt, that no mission is beyond resolve, no obstacle beyond will. On 8 April 1948, 2/Lt R R Rane was entrusted with the daunting task of leading a mine and roadblock clearing party at Mile 26 on the Naushera–Rajauri axis. What followed was not merely an operation, but a testament to extraordinary courage and unyielding spirit. In the face of incessant enemy machine gun and mortar fire, amidst the unforgiving terrain of Jammu & Kashmir, he led from the front—calm, resolute, unflinching. Though wounded early in the operation, he refused evacuation. For over 72 relentless hours, without rest or sustenance, he pressed on—methodically clearing mines, demolishing successive roadblocks, and opening the way for the advancing armour. By 1100 hours on 11 April, the road to Chingas stood open. Yet, his task unfinished in spirit, he continued till late evening, ensuring the advance never lost momentum. It was this indomitable resolve that paved the way to Rajauri—turning the tide of operations and securing a decisive advantage. For his most conspicuous gallantry, 2/Lt R R Rane was awarded the Param Vir Chakra on 26 January 1951. Years may pass, but such valour does not fade. The legacy of Late Maj R R Rane endures—etched in memory, alive in spirit. The Bombay Sappers proudly observe 11 April as PVC Day— in honour of a soldier who did not merely clear a road, but showed a nation the path of courage. 🇮🇳 #BombaySappers #IndianArmy #ParamVirChakra #LegacyOfValour

Col SS Rajan (Retd) was felicitated by COAS Gen Upendra Dwivedi in Bengaluru under the Veteran Achievers Award. A proud Bombay Sapper, the veteran officer embodies the Corps’ enduring ethos of nation-building—on the frontlines, in infrastructure, and within society. He has worked tirelessly for veterans’ welfare and resettlement—resolving grievances, taking up issues with state authorities & standing as a steadfast voice for ex-servicemen. From ensuring the solemn dignity of Kargil & Vijay Diwas at the National Military Memorial to mentoring youth and veterans towards purposeful national service, his contribution continues to impact countless lives. In him lives the spirit of the Bombay Sappers—quiet professionals whose service to the nation never ceases, only evolves. #BombaySappers #IndianArmy #Veterans #RespectAndRecognition #NationBuilding

Honouring those who once wore the uniform with pride. 🇮🇳 On 05 Mar 2026, 270 Engineer Regiment organised a Motorcycle Rally from Amritsar India Gate to Tarn Taran to strengthen bonds with Ex-Servicemen and understand the challenges faced by veterans post retirement. At Mano Chahal, the rally team was warmly welcomed by Capt Hira Singh Dhotian, District President, National Ex-Servicemen Welfare Organisation (Tarn Taran), along with the district’s veteran fraternity. The interaction provided an opportunity for meaningful discussions on veterans’ concerns and measures to overcome them collectively.
