@DemolishSEblvd @Janeese4DC @kenyanmcduffie Yes. If we’re serious about Vision Zero, we need real accountability for dangerous driving. Too often, out-of-state drivers speed through our streets knowing it’s harder to enforce consequences across state lines. That loophole needs to close.

bruh now you give a fuck about pedestrians and cyclists? now you’re showing off stats about how bike lanes save lives? you were trump before trump. i’m old enough to remember.
Mayor Muriel Bowser@MayorBowser

Since the 15th St Protected Bike Lane was installed: 📉Crashes dropped 46% 📉Bike injuries dropped 91% Removing the bike lane between Constitution Ave and the Tidal Basin would increase conflicts between pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles at one of the busiest times of year.

@BarredinDC @DDOTDC What are you talking about? How is it pathetic? It’s a statement, but I’m sure nothing they ever do will ever be enough. 🙄

@Janeese4DC This is not the post you should be reposting as it’s been shown to be a blatant lie. Maybe the one about this being NPS land and local govt trying very hard to keep the lane would have been more honest.

The 15th Street bike lane is a model of how DC and the federal government can work together, not just for Washingtonians, but for the tourists that support our economy too.
Barred in DC@BarredinDC

The 15th Street Protected Bike Lane south of Constitution Ave is slated to be removed on Monday, per 2 sources Reportedly DDOT did not raise strong objections to it and has further not objected to using the Hains Point bike lanes for car traffic during the cherry blossoms

@BarredinDC Why would you keep the original tweet up to mislead people when you discovered it was wrong? That’s irresponsible.

Kody’s account was hacked: they changed the password and did multiple factor auth, emailed him to say the account will be sold if he doesn’t buy it, and is sending links through DM to hack other accounts. Guess what @X is doing to help? NOTHING. They don’t care about their users.

If you have one takeaway from today's press conference, DC, it's this: Drinking water is not impacted by the Potomac Interceptor break.

@ankitjaindc I was only referring to the last sentence. Congress could pass a law to change DC Water's budget/authority, but extremely unlikely with a 60 vote threshold (beyond disapproval period). If Congress disapproves of the budget, DC Government cannot force changes to DC Water's budget.

@BrianRedder Can you provide a citation to this point? My understanding is DC Water was created via DC law. Congress has the legal (but not moral) authority to modify any DC law or any DC government-created entity in any way it wants, so it should be able to affect the actions of DC Water

The President put out this post maybe a day before he signs a bill attempting to steal $600 million in local tax dollars from DC that we could use to fund DC Water to prevent the next Potomac spill. Spare me the BS that Republicans are better at providing people clean water

@ankitjaindc That’s an incorrect understanding. I get it’s easy to connect DC Water and DC Government, but in reality, the only impact that DC Government has is the few Board seats they control. Congress does not have oversight over their budget the same way they do over DC Government.

@BrianRedder Congress can legally pass any law at any time to modify the functioning or budget of DC Water (a power they of course should not use—just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should). My understanding is if they disapprove DC’s budget that also affects DC Water’s budget

@ankitjaindc Congress has little effect on DC Water. They are an independent authority. It seems you are confusing federal and local government control over them? That’s incorrect.

If you think a Republican party that has passed two laws in two years trying to steal $1.6 trillion from DC’s local budget and that works tirelessly to protect polluters would have prevented this spill from happening if they controlled the DMV, I have a bridge or two to sell you

@FordJohnathan5 @TheMaineWonk @GovWesMoore DC Water is not the District government. It is its own entity. It is an independent authority, and has jurisdiction over that pipeline. Please stop spreading misinformation.

@BrianRedder @TheMaineWonk @GovWesMoore District of Columbia home rule is the District of Columbia residents' ability to govern their local affairs. The District is the federal district; as such, the Constitution grants the United States Congress exclusive jurisdiction over the District in "all cases whatsoever".

All they do is lie because they think you don’t know any better. The line that broke is actually maintained by DC Water, runs along Clara Barton Parkway and is maintained/operated by National Park Service. Anything to blame DEI and black Governor of Maryland @GovWesMoore.

@Deathofasource What is? The drinking water intake, owners and operated by the Army Corps of Engineer's, is above this spill. So, the drinking water is not at risk.

@StephenGardnerX Gov Moore has no authority over this pipeline…? This line is owned and operated by DC Water - a separate entity from DC government.

Sounds like @dcwater broke the pipe
NOVA Campaigns@NoVA_Campaigns

What’s going unreported is that the Potomac Interceptor sewage spill - largest in US history - is happening just 1,000 ft down from where @dcwater has been rehabilitating the sewer line since September 8, 2025 via Sliplining process DC Water has begun an eight-month construction project to rehabilitate a major sewer line that runs along Clara Barton Parkway near I-495. The work, which started September 8th, focuses on restoring an 800-foot segment of the sanitary sewer system SLIPLINING- A trenchless method of repairing or rehabilitating existing pipelines, such as sewer lines, water mains, and storm drains, by inserting a new, smaller pipe (the liner) inside the existing pipe. This process involves pulling or pushing the liner into the existing pipe, then sealing the space between the two pipes with grout or other materials. It's a less disruptive and costly alternative to full pipe replacement, particularly when the surrounding soil is still structurally sound. DC WATER SLIPLINING DC Water contractors will excavate two holes - one on each end of the trench - where 72-inch diameter pipe segments will be lowered and inserted. These segments will be pushed into the existing 78-inch diameter Potomac Interceptor, forming a new pipe inside the existing one.
