The Masterpiece Bake Shop analogy fails because Goldman was not seeking to force the shop to make a cake with a Star of David on it. Whether the denial of service is on the basis of Zionist advocacy as a public official or animus toward a Jew is a closer question. The latter judgment would create grounds for successful civil rights enforcement, the former would not. While the overt text of the denial of service taunt claims the former, there is at least some public evidence to suggest that there is at least some of the former at work here.

In the case of the Colorado small bakery that refused to sell same-sex wedding cakes, the core conservative defense was that small businesses shouldn't be forced to provide services that violate their core beliefs. Why doesn't that principle apply to a coffee shop that doesn't want to serve a Congressman who supports US financing and arming of Israeli aggression?

The Economist has been conspicuously enshittified since Zanny Minton Beddoes became editor, and much of it is because the paper got increasingly progressive over the course of the Great Awokening. Older people who became woke during this cultural revolution outed themselves as unserious people who never grappled with the “big issues” before mass politicisation permitted idiot students on campuses to dictate reality.

I was admitted to Flinders Medical yesterday afternoon to have a colonoscopy this afternoon. Last night an African registered nurse drove an UNDERARM THERMOMETER into my right ear canal quite hard when she wanted to take my temperature. I told her she hurt me & that thermometer is not supposed to be driven into your ear canal & she started ARGUING with me!! I’m still in pain now & the area is swollen. If she’s a RN then she definitely knows not to use that thermometer in anyone’s EAR! It was Intentional!!

@nick_van_d @ctindale IELTS is a 9-band test, each band represents a distinctly different level of ability. We're taking in people with a 5 or 6 (in regional areas I think it's been lowered to 4.5) when 7 or 8 should be the minimum.
