Excited to share our new preprint on @biorxivpreprint! We show that USP28 mutations found in cancer block its interaction with 53BP1, disrupting p53 stabilization. Check out the full story... biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

How do organelles fit together inside a crowded cell? Answering this question requires a way to image many organelles in a whole cell at high resolution with high throughput. Our new preprint shows how to do this in yeast using soft x-ray tomography biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

We further showed that the asymmetry of PI(3,5)P2 and the PI(3,5)P2 effector Atg18 determine the asymmetry of vacuolar pH. Given the link between vacuole acidity and longevity, our results suggest that PI(3,5)P2 is key for daughter cell rejuvenation and mother cell aging.

Employing a ratiometric in vivo vacuolar-pH sensor, we observed a pH drop in the daughter vacuole, while a pH increase in the mother vacuole, concomitant with changes in PI(3,5)P2 distribution during mitosis.

I am excited to announce that our latest work is now published @JCellBiol! Huge congratulations to the co-authors @MaryHuda97 @KoyuncuMukadder @cansudilege. Big thanks to our funding bodies @Tubitak and @EMBO_YIP, @KocSciences, and to many labs who shared plasmid/strains with us.

@MaryHuda97 et al. @CaydasiLab @Kocuniversity reveal the dynamics of the vacuolar signaling lipid PI(3,5)P2 in budding yeast. PI(3,5)P2 synthesis is asymmetric during #mitosis and plays a key role in establishing vacuolar pH asymmetry. hubs.la/Q02Xx8N00 #Lipids
