I have noticed that super old veterans tend to be black. How do the rates match up earlier in life? It’s possible that the murder rate in black population centers could be a factor, with those who make it to old age often moving into communities further from the violence. Or perhaps, or alongside that, whites born in the 40s might have a higher chance of using drugs in their youth (it was the sixties after all) while blacks, specifically those who make it past beyond their working years, have a lower chance.

I really don’t think that’s true. Amongst those who know WW1 hist. prior to 1917, and has been my experience taking classes on the subject, the war effort prior to the entry of America is seen as a largely inefficient venture, just as it is in the UK; Perhaps even more-so, as to embroider the importance of America’s entry.
