@TheGrandZero "5-15%" try 40-60%. Income tax isn't the only tax that exists. They simply spread out the taxes so you don't feel it. - social security - vat - fuel/carbon (up to 65%), stacks up in everything you buy - property - vehicle - stamp taxes, fees, etc

How are you supposed save money to invest in your project if all your surplus is taken from you? This is why socialist countries stay poor and have no innovation.

If you want to make a living doing something, others have to voluntarily value it enough to buy it. That isn’t suppression of dreams. It’s the absence of coercion. Capitalism says: pursue whatever you want, but earn support voluntarily. Socialism says: pursue what's dictated, and we’ll force others to fund it.

@chicometa @RodriM30024 Wealth =/= Resources. 1. Technological advancement allows you to produce more with less resources. 2. Software takes few resources and turns them into infinite products. An app can make you rich. 3. More production = cheap products = poor people's access to high tech.

Things simply get more expensive to nullify the increase, and small businesses go bankrupt because they have no leverage in the market to increase their prices. Big biz wins.

Starting a business in Portugal: -> Pay 13 000€ to e-REDES (grid operator monopoly) for a grid connection (1MW), -> wait 1.5 years for the connection -> Pay 20 000€ to municipality to build a new warehouse, -> wait +1year for licensing to start building -> Pay 10 000€ for licenses to INFARMED (regulatory agency for cannabis businesses) -> wait 1.5 years to get licensed Nice country to spend money, not so much to create value
