@Jim22Palmer The 71 WS ate at me for decades, not as much as 69, but plenty enough. But then I realized that Clemente and Seaver won those two series, and it makes it a little easier to swallow. Well, maybe not 69. :-)

It appears I lost my head. Easy to do when I think about the last time the O’s wore uni’s like this. 1971…101 wins, 4 -20 game winners, 81 wins,12 shutouts, 70 complete games, the good news. Bad news lost to the Pirates with Roberto Clemente, Steve Blass in a 7 game World Series.

The movie "Cobb" starring Tommy Lee Jones might as well be a Marvel film. Almost nothing in it is factual. Here is a thread of all the lies you were told about the great Ty Cobb.

I thought he'd get back there. Hell, we all thought he would. A heartbreaking day for him in Super Bowl XIX, 40 years ago today. But man, what an absolutely epic 1984 season the #Dolphins' Dan Marino had. One for the ages

@Jimfrombaseball Good thing he wasn't working as a parking valet. Getting this guy's auto to the lot might have been a challenge.

"I thought I was pretty hot stuff" Wilt Chamberlain In 1954, before his senior year of HS, Wilt Chamberlain worked as a bellhop at "Kutsher’s Country Club", a Jewish resort in the Catskill Mountains. By day he was making $2 an hour, getting great tips from the awestruck guests as he lifted their luggage through a second floor window while standing outside on the ground.  At night, he played on the Kutsher’s basketball team, coached hard by the resort’s Athletic Director, Red Auerbach.

@GDixon410 Both were spectacular. One was a perfect play; the other was a perfect recovery. Robinson couldn’t have made Machado’s recovery (but Robinson also didn’t need to).

@EricMacLain I'll play "How Is this not Targeting" for $100 million, Alex. And the answer is ... "Because Texas is a bigger draw in the semifinals." (I *was* pulling for Texas before this "call" because they beat @ClemsonFB.) PS - Thanks for a great double career, @EricMacLain!

I'll probably get lynched for saying this, but I kind of think Scott Rolen was a greater player than Brooks Robinson. Brooks was a fantastic fielder but only had a few good years with the bat. Rolen was a tremendous fielder and had a much better bat.

@billjamesonline I have Brooks somewhere between 11 & 15 for the greatest 3B ever. Rolen is 7-10. Brooks was Clete Boyer with the glove and, at best, Buddy Bell with the bat. Rolen was Mike Schmidt with the glove and Ron Santo with the bat.

Same people criticizing Cam Ward for sitting out the 2nd half of the Pop Tarts Bowl, would be saying how dumb it was for him to play if he got hurt. He didn’t have to play AT ALL. Instead he gave us a half of jaw dropping plays. Stop villainizing these student athletes.

Has anyone ever opted out at the halftime of a bowl game? I can’t remember someone doing it. Cam Ward did it today at the Pop Tart Bowl.
