@MMGOLFSTUDIOS I think scratch may not improve because their face control is already good. A 5-20hcp with speed though..? 🤔 Would face control be easier for them with a smooth no-wrist style swing? Maybe throw in a very spinny ball too.

I know we’ve always talked about scratch vs LPGA but I wonder… most competitive scratch ams have a lot more speed than the lpga players we speak of, if they back everything down to lpga speeds can they improve? 10mph club head speed off a driver? PW 107 instead of 147?

There isn’t an exact formula, but with millions of swings we have pretty good predictions. A 10 handicap should expect to see a bigger drop in points comparing a level 40 score to a level 90 score, relative to a scratch golfer. We have an associated handicap coming out in the next update.

I had a legit shot at reaching Level 100 yesterday but couldn’t quite pull it off. Still, hitting Level 97 while playing at Level 80 is a big personal best. Distance control is starting to feel dialled heading into the season. Premier Mode in Stack Wedge automatically curates your next combine to match your current ability—maximizing both practice enjoyment and improvement.

If a training aid promotes achieving a “TOUR average” position, critical thinking should lead to a few questions being considered prior to committing to using the device.

@DropMyScore Put your hand in front of your face, cross your eyes, tilt your head left and right. You should see these 3 patterns. If it’s not “no tilt” it will have influence on how you see lines as well as stroke direction

Your eyes can shape the way you swing (putt or full). You can use this to you advantage to altar path on full swings (if you need to swing more in to out) or be sure you set up and see the same way every time putting. Cross your eyes at address and check.

Reluctantly played golf with a Covidian today. I inquired as to why he was playing all blades as a 9 index. “I was tired of hitting knuckleball PWs that go 180 from the rough” ok

The only two things that matter. Is it true? (the D Plane, sum of the moments alpha always go negative before impact, there is no heavy hit) or false? (ball starts on path, Fred Couples is reverse throwing, up the left arm matters). 🧵

Why do higher handicappers leave it short? I analyzed 5 million approach shots. % that finish >20 yards short of the hole: At 130-175 yards: • 0-5 HCP: 11% • 5-10 HCP: 19% • 10-15 HCP: 27% • 15-20 HCP: 37% It's not just "take more club." It's deeper than that.

Oh, and hitting your irons farther does nothing for SG. If a new 8i goes as far as an old 7i but the dispersion is the same, you have a 0 SG improvement for $1500. You need to improve your dispersion from a given distance. If it equates to +1 GIR/rd you’re 3-7 strokes better.
MM🇺🇸@MMGOLFSTUDIOS

Let’s say you gain 10y off the tee on average with a new driver AND you hit 1 more fairway (this would be a really good upgrade). If you hit driver 14x/rd you gain about 1 stroke. Are you willing to pay $500 to go from an 8 handicap to a 7?

The problem with rolling the rock every night is the invasive thoughts start creeping in... Down the line looks alright, but from the top looks like I'm hitting the heel... If it's going to the target at the right pace does it even matter...? 3.5ish ft putt - 2" cup - 10 stimp

I still don't buy into the strokes gained data that says more distance makes it easier to score. If you aren't accurate, golf will not get easier for you.

@JonathanYarwood @BrettRumford Brett looks to be better controlling the low point and club interaction with the ground. On the flubs, Collin is missing the UP component that allows the sole to graze the turf

Quiz time- other than the obvious, what do you see is different between @brettrumford hitting a chip of a uphill slope, tight grainy lie compared to the other players and why is he more successful at it? 🤷‍♂️⛳️ What do the poor chips have in common? ( Yes their lie is slightly tougher but relatively similar) …….Go 👊🏻

@Pixel_ProStudio @DivotDoctrine Assuming they are playing the same course on the same day, sure. But the comparing of averages across many different courses worldwide is why SG doesn’t quite work for amateurs

@DivotDoctrine No. If two people hit 300 yard drive into rough the expected outcome of strokes to complete hole from there is the same. If another player hits in the fairway the distance is same but the expected strokes goes down because of position.

@JonathanYarwood I think certain grips are suited to certain chipping styles? I personally find the shallow skiddy approach a LOT more forgiving. I don’t know why nobody ever seems to mention that fatting it when you’re steep is so much worse

There seems to be a trend of steepening the plane and attack angle on chip shots. Whilst that is a style that can work off wet and fluffy lies, it’s much harder of tighter turf. As soon as it’s so steep you bring in redirection of the club which affects turf interaction. I align with the philosophy of @brettrumford and @shortgamechef on these shots with the style being less steep and a stable ulnar/radius angles. The club then skids and with a slight body raise at impact the player can pick it off most conditions. 👍🙏👌🏼⛳️ (vid @skratch) (No disrespect to players featured, they are incredible champions and those lies are tough)
