World’s smallest falcon (22-25 g) and world’s largest hummingbird (~20-26 g). Amazing to see how form matches function. @NMNH

Latest update on the Madeira Wildfires, another night and the fire gets closer. It’s now northwest of nesting ground. We believe that Zino’s Petrels are affected by smoke and fire. Although the fire has not reached the know nests yet it is moving north and could rotate east.

One of many targets in Borneo (mostly failing) got this amazing Whitehead's Broadbill at Mount Kinabalu today. Local knowledge was key as met a birder yesterday who showed me the branch it favoured at 7am, and sure enough a pair was there for around 15 minutes.
