This afternoon, we gathered in Hackney town hall Square to witness the local proclamation of King Charles. @hackneyspeaker, the Deputy Lieutenant, @mayorofhackney led Hackney's Accession Proclamation, part of the formal protocol by which the King takes to the throne.

Very good to see children heading to school this morning on what is the first day of the term for many. All best wishes to everyone (pupils, staff and parent/carers) for a happy and successful school year in Hackney! Particular thoughts are with those starting at a new school.

Everyone linked to education will be preparing this week for the new school year. We’re pleased to build on some great primary, GCSE and post 16 results for students and schools. I was proud to join some happy Hackney Year 11 students and staff last week.

These figures are, unsurprisingly, scandalous. Once again demonstrates what might most politely be described as gaming the system by independent schools last year on a huge scale. Much less disparity across years for most state schools, esp 6th form colleges

We hosted an incredible community iftar last night. The Speaker of Hackney (@hackneyspeaker), Deputy Mayor of Hackney (@AnntoinetteBra1 ), Director of Education of Hackney (@HackneyDirofEd) were all in attendance with local community leaders, school staff, parents and pupils.
