Added a Light Propagation Volume to my plugin for #UnrealEngine5. Real-time GI folks. Everybody thought it couldn't be done cheap. Wrong. Under 0.8ms on an RX 580. That's a very old card. Very impressive stuff, believe me. (1/8) #UE5 #GameDev #IndieDev

#UnrealEngine For those who may be thinking that #Lumen Hardware is higher quality than #DDGI. Look at the pics Besides boiling and general poor image instability and performance. There is also this: Lumen is not able to apply shadows/lighting correctly at several instances. Here for example the Lumen version incorrectly makes the scene totally dark when there is direct light coming from above. This appears to be a consequence of BLAS simplification: the geometry of the logs is likely being aggressively simplified, causing them to behave like a solid roof that blocks the light. As a result, light is erroneously occluded, producing incorrect global illumination. #gamedev #rendering #raytracing
