If someone told me now to lockdown for Hantavirus, I would tell them to get lost If someone told me to lock down if Hantavirus was spreading rapidly person to person causing massive case numbers with a 40% mortality - I would stay home. But that won't happen.

@drkristenkc The entire ship would have been infected you absolute moron. Not just 17 people. It is NOT easily spread and this variant has been researched and well known for a long time. Now go fuck off.

@annwmac @ModelAyshaMirza No, they did a press conference this morning. They are undergoing testing today then will be allowed to go home to self isolate 🙄

Ann. Who? ❤️🇨🇦
@ModelAyshaMirza Are the exposed individuals in quarantine for 42 days? Are they being monitored by trained healthcare professionals wearing full PPE and respirators? Has the facility in Nebraska had experience in dealing with this type of thing before? This all seems pretty competent.

Let’s say the quiet part out loud: there WILL be ongoing additional CONFIRMED US infections of the Andes hantavirus due to the incompetent administration. Anyone who insists otherwise is a minimizer and doesn’t understand how viral transmission and incubation periods work.

@ModelAyshaMirza The passengers have been on a non commercial flight and to the government facility. How does that show an “incompetent administration”?

@InnocenceInv @Plinz Name calling aside- this is very different. Unlike Covid, where people were winning Olympic medals while testing positive, this virus has a 30-40% fatality rate, so people have a strong incentive to notify authorities at the first sign of symptoms and to protect family members.

The Hanta virus strain from the cruise ship has been sequenced, and it appears to be the known Andes strain (high mortality but not very infectious). It seems immoral to send passengers home via commercial flights during incubation period (would you want to be on that plane?)

@TechGuyChris2 @CapikJerem62169 @leftcoastbabe @krassenstein I do know what im talking about because all my statements are backed by scientists who were boots on the ground for prior outbreaks and have dedicated their lives to studying this disease. Your statements are opinions. Hope that helps 🙄

An American passenger from the MV Hondius has just tested positive for Hantavirus. Another passenger is also showing symptoms consistent with the virus. Force Quarantine on these people. We don’t need another pandemic.

@TechGuyChris2 @CapikJerem62169 @leftcoastbabe @krassenstein If you read the complete studies, it has not become a pandemic prior to now because its most common in rural villages of Argentina. Its never been transmitted through populated areas & testing on the current patients show the gene which supports easier transmission has mutated

@TechGuyChris2 @CapikJerem62169 @leftcoastbabe @krassenstein Okay dumbass let me explain like you're 5. We take information from prior outbreaks to forecast expectations of future outbreaks. The 2018 outbreak is the only data we have to go by regarding this strain therefore that is the information being used to make choices 🤣

“mildly” PCR positive 🤦‍♂️
HHS@HHSGov

HHS through @ASPRgov and @CDCgov is supporting @StateDept in the repatriation of 17 American citizens from the MV Hondius cruise ship affected by the Andes variant of hantavirus. All 17 are currently en route via @StateDept airlift to the United States, with two of the passengers travelling in the plane's biocontainment units out of an abundance of caution. One passenger currently has mild symptoms and another passenger tested mildly PCR positive for the Andes virus. As of now, the airlift will transport passengers to the ASPR Regional Emerging Special Pathogen Treatment Center (RESPTC) at the University of Nebraska Medical Center/Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska before taking the passenger with mild symptoms to a second RESPTC at its final destination. Upon arrival at each facility, each individual will undergo clinical assessment and receive appropriate care and support based on their condition.

Prof. Joseph Allen confirms the Trump administration is actively hiding how easily this new Hantavirus spreads. He reveals cases where people caught it just by saying hello in passing at a short party. Washington is intentionally underplaying the threat, risking massive spread.

@qwerty12702 @quay_dr You could say that IF the quarantine period was over, but its not. More will likely test positive and the 1% difference in sequencing from the 2018 strain is significant as to unknown modes and severity of transmission in a populated environment.

@quay_dr This actually pretty much lines up with the current outbreak if we view all of the 200 people as household contacts given the small size of the ship.

Andes hantavirus spreading behavior: -76 index cases, 476 household contacts -16 (3.4%) of household contacts got infected -18% among sex partners; 1.2% other household contacts (p<0.001) - PCR blood test positive 5-15 days ahead of symptoms

@YouAreLobbyLud @WHO As with COVID, the more infections with a virus we have, the more often it mutates, rendering existing knowledge about its transmissibility, diagnosis and treatment useless. Only COVID was playing roulette with a .22 handgun. Hantavirus is an AR-15. Zero infections or bust. 🚨

@Eesrepublic @IanCopeland5 Its not guaranteed, its only phased out in the past due to being most prevalent in rural villages. We have zero data to show what the result of transmission is in populated areas.
