@jackson_donal @CormacLaffan @fiannafailparty @HSELive And do what exactly? The Govt or state doesn't recruit workers.. if facilitates employers, both public and private, who need to.. The state cannot cut off the supply of skilled labour, of even unskilled labour, even if it wanted to, and it doesn't..

@dublincomments @KnigSunny I didn't know he has or had been charged. If so, he would have been named in court. And I would have thought there would have been some media interest, tho maybe a reluctance to publish anything until his mental fitness to stand trial has been cleared..

How is it possible that no photo has ever surfaced of the Algerian asylum seeker (once had a deportation order) who attempted to murder three 5/6yr old children on a Dublin street 2.5 years ago He still hasn't got his prison sentence

@dublincomments @KnigSunny Neither names nor ID of any person suspected of an indictable crime is ever issued by the authorities until the charge sheet in read out in court.

@MCOR1963 @Francis45254788 @AislingAon There are a number of specific places, eg EU journal and similar, including online. When applying for a work permit, they have to include the specific advert reference numbers in the application form. It cannot get updated without that..

@AislingAon Because the EU has run out of workers. Work permit system requires that all vacancies, new jobs or naturally occurring, must first be offered within the EU before seeking permission to recruit from further afield

A starving Irish family from Carraroe, County Galway, during the Famine (1845-1852).... Between 1845-1852, Ireland endured one of the most devastating humanitarian crises in modern European history. The Great Famine was triggered by potato blight (Phytophthora infestans), which destroyed the staple crop relied upon by nearly one-third of the population for survival. The consequences were staggering. Around 1 million people died from starvation and disease, while another 1 to 2 million emigrated, many aboard overcrowded “coffin ships” bound for North America. In counties like Galway, entire communities collapsed as food systems failed and relief efforts proved uneven and often insufficient. At the time, Ireland was still part of the United Kingdom, and food continued to be exported from the island even as rural families faced extreme deprivation, a fact that remains central to historical debate about responsibility and response. The famine permanently reshaped Ireland’s population, which fell by over 20% and would not recover to pre-famine levels for more than a century. The Irish diaspora created during the famine years led to cities like New York and Boston developing Irish populations so large that, by the late 19th century, Irish-born residents made up over a quarter of their inhabitants. © National Library of Ireland #archaeohistories

@dublincomments @archeohistories I'm not the one recruiting them. makes absolutely no difference to me either way. But it helps to be aware of the broader realities of life, and that continues to include thousands of migrants, both workers and asylum seekers, and there is nothing much anyone can do about it

@jackson_donal @CormacLaffan @fiannafailparty @HSELive ..every tech development it can afford, the number of personnel continues to increase as well Let us not wish all this away. There are already professional labour and expertise companies tempting FDI to offshore employments..this means wages, tax, PRSI and VAT will offshore too

@dublincomments @archeohistories Nor can it really. The number of children born per female is probably less than 25% of what it was back then. Population growth back then could be counted in the school playgrounds. Nowadays, many arrive as fully fledged adults

More than 33,000 people are in State accommodation. The average cost is about €71 per night per person, over €2,100 a month before other supports. Now the Government is softening its stance on family reunification. The system is too slow, too costly, and too weakly enforced. Process claims in weeks. Remove those refused. Support those entitled to stay. This is about fairness and control. #Ireland #Immigration #CostOfLiving #Accountability

@Gerryois1 @IrelandMeda @kenoflynnTD There are two types of emigration to Aus.. the more settled kind, likely to last more than a few years, requires a scarce essential skill visa. The other 90% plus are working holiday visas and they are not allowed to bring family members on a dependant visa

@KitMurray @IrelandMeda @kenoflynnTD I read the same Google search you screenshot. further down on that same search it states that the application can be immediate but it's usually years. You also omit that this refers to skilled workers only.. Not every refugee chancer.. tell me Kit, do you want Ireland to vanish?

@jackson_donal @CormacLaffan @fiannafailparty All employers ... in Ireland, the HSE may be the singlw biggest beneficiary of the work permit system but they do spread evenly across all employment sectors. Ireland's agri food production, for eg, leading to nearly 20bn in exports, struggles to find workers..

@GalwayLeahy @JohnJCarvill @ronan_mckenna @Mickcliff ... have their share, or proportion, of criminals There is, however, very little to back up those who believe that foreigners are more likely to commit crimes in general, or specific crimes in particular.

@GalwayLeahy @JohnJCarvill @ronan_mckenna @Mickcliff He is neither right or wrong. Crime stats are usually expressed as % of population. When the population rises, even tho % may stay steady, the actual number of crimes will rise.. and insofar as migrants are concerned, they are one of the drivers or population increase, and /

A hit piece below by Mick Clifford consists almost entirely of left wing innuendo presented as fact. - Ken O’Flynn’s concerns on immigration, LGBTQ+, Women’s rights and NGOs are held by a very large, if not a majority, of Irish people. - Clifford tries to argue that there is no evidence of a link between crime and immigration. If there is no link why not produce the statistics? - Clifford suggests that attendance at Irl Forum and an event organised by the Women’s Coalition is somehow negative. The former was addressing the vast gap which has opened up between the electorate and the establishment in Ireland and the latter addressed the deep concern felt by most women about men entering their private spaces. - Clifford is an unapologetic socialist. He is tapped into a worldview that denies the right of nations to look after the interests of their own people first, that constantly denies reality and science, that thrives on fake victimhood, that hates tradition, particularly the Catholic Church. I wonder where a deep dive into his (Clifford’s) writings, associations, finances and family would lead. Everything he writes is left wing propaganda and should be viewed as such.

@LOCthedreamer2 Migrants do not need to be celebrated. They can do that themselves. Not a single one wants to be put on a pedestal, nor are any I know particularly concerned whether or not they are considered to by Irish. Most are very proud to be who they are, and all they ask is to be/
