@bumblemio Bro, mario galaxy has such a generic story, it's just rescue peach on Space, rosalina bookstory is not even a 1% of the story, you take 7 minutes to real it, it's just extra material, you don't even know about it if you don't go to her library on the whole game. Overrated af

@kirkneverdied Except the story in Mario Galaxy is good. It tells a good story about family. It isn’t super deep but it doesn’t need to be. The ironic thing is those looking for only story and/or thematic elements completely missed both of them.

Two things can be true at once: (1) Many critics are overly critical of the film, (2) the movie has basic story problems. There's a lot of room between "Turn your brain off" and "a profound commentary on the human condition." Wanting Mario to have a good story isn't an indictor or jaded, cynical critic.

I'm feeling heated and this needs to be said. Some critics and content creators are out here treating The Super Mario Galaxy Movie like it just failed a college-level film theory exam.42% on Tomatometer? Really? Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach blast off on a wild, colorful adventure across an entire galaxy full of wonder, power-ups, gravity-defying madness, and pure Nintendo charm — and somehow that’s not enough for some people. They wanted drama. They wanted soul-searching monologues. They wanted important life lessons wrapped in dark, brooding metaphors. Newsflash: That’s not what Mario has ever been about.Mario has always been simple, brilliant storytelling at its core: One crazy event (a kidnapped princess, a new galaxy in peril, Bowser being Bowser) kicks off an explosion of pure adventure. You jump in, you explore, you have fun, you save the day. The “message,” if you even want to call it that, is light, wholesome, and timeless: enjoy life, cherish your friends and family, and embrace the ride. It doesn’t need to preach. It doesn’t need to lecture. It just needs to be fun.Yet here we are — grown adults with serious review voices acting disappointed that a Super Mario movie didn’t deliver the emotional weight of an Oscar-bait drama. Creators like Andres from GameXplain openly expressed their letdown, and they’re not alone. The huge gap between the critic score (42%) and the audience Popcornmeter (91%) says everything. Here’s the reality check they desperately need:Turn your brain off for two hours. Stop looking for subtext that isn’t there. Stop demanding every children’s movie be a profound commentary on the human condition.Mario isn’t trying to fix your existential crisis. He’s trying to make you smile, cheer, and maybe hum the Galaxy soundtrack on the way home. Some of these reviewers have completely lost touch with what made Mario magical in the first place. It was never about deep, heavy messaging. It was about adventure — pure, unapologetic, galaxy-spanning joy.If you can’t enjoy that anymore… maybe the problem isn’t the movie. It’s you.

@Blazykun All of those were half baked, peach and Rosalina barely even spoke more than a line to one another, Bowser went back to being evil again, peach and mario barely interacted.

I have never been so gaslit by critics before I'm sorry, but they're completely wrong about the Mario Galaxy movie. It's actually really good, with a simple but compelling story that provides satisfying arcs, and addresses all of the issues with the first movie

Shigeru Miyamoto explained how Fox McCloud ended up in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie: “When I got the proposal from Chris about including Star Fox, in general, from Nintendo’s perspective, we tend to avoid mixing IPs, except for the Pikmin cameo. With that said, though, as the creator of Star Fox and this movie taking place in space, I felt that I wanted to see that. I wanted to see what it would be like, but I also felt that there may be significant resistance internally about that idea, so after I got this proposal, I contacted the necessary parties involved and started my lobbying activity here at Nintendo. However, I was surprised to find that a lot of people saw a lot of potential with it and were really excited to see what would come out of this.” nintendoeverything.com/miyamoto-expla…

Yup everyone’s right about this movie, while it is gorgeous and fun, it’s horrendously paced, all go and no show, a bare bones story with no room for character moments or even any arcs It’s just stuff happening without any rhyme or reason, again it’s fun but nothing more

@8biteric Bro come tf on, if every movie was a 10/10 then no movie would be. I saw the movie and you can’t compare it to masterpieces like puss in boots, spider-verse or the incredibles.

@NinTendo832140 @Sean_3180 @Genki_JPN Bro I don’t like the movies either but you’re focusing on the wrong things. That movie had way more issues than “girl boss” peach.

@BrerOswald The reviews for the first film were bad too, and it was still a fun movie. Stop expecting a Mario movie to be high art and just enjoy the ride. Also, judge for yourself instead of reading other people's opinions. Look at how many people have horrible opinions on this site alone.
