She was given two to five years. Well, today marks the 12th anniversary of my wife’s brain tumor diagnosis. It has been quite the odyssey. Leigh is my hero and an inspiration to so many. markgodich.substack.com/p/true-grit

@TimGavrich If he misses the shot and Kentucky gets the rebound, the game is most likely headed to OT. They had no timeouts left. They got a better look after the made basket than they would on a miss. The kid made a 1-in-100 shot.

@MarkGodich I hear you on the OReb potential, but it’s risky because it’s far from guaranteed. Shooting at the end of the clock gives SC 100% control over their destiny in that scenario. I’d rather head to OT on my own miss than another team’s desperation make.

After Oweh tied the game with 10 seconds left in regulation, it was insane that Santa Clara didn’t call timeout when they crossed half court. Yeah they hit a 3 to go up 3 before this shot, but a proper play-call would have set up a shot as time expired. Bad coaching IMO.

@sterling_short @mitchdwx @mid_madness Because he’s, um, doing his job, hustling down the court to be in position to make a call. Sendek should’ve looked for the ref who was on the baseline. In any event, he was late asking for time. Should’ve been ready to call it as soon as the ball went through the net.

@mitchdwx @mid_madness He didn’t call it in time. And I don’t know how in that environment you would expect a ref who is 20-30 away and with his back turned to hear him in the first place.

@mid_madness I don’t think he called it in time. The ball was already being inbounded

So good. And so true. Having spent 25 years in the Northeast, this hits home. There’s also the tease of sneaking in a round in early March, only to get socked by a foot of snow a week or two later.

@McShay13 @danorlovsky7 I just don’t get how you can watch Tennessee & Missouri (unfortunately) & not think he has everything you need/want for a franchise guy.

We have a rather big Augusta National project in the works ahead of this year's Masters and we could use your help. We are looking for the most memorable shots — good or bad — from each individual hole at Augusta National. Drop 'em here 👇

@byEliHoff I think the relevant number is 13 out of 20 years, which is more than I would’ve thought. The 2% figure is skewed because some if not a lot of those teams didn’t have a regional in their home state. btw, it’s happening twice this year with Cal Baptist playing 90 miles from home

That's 13 out of 640, by the way — so roughly 2%. Even rarer is a lower seed like #Mizzou not having to play a bigger program that's also from the same state, like a handful of those 13 teams had to do.

Here's a stat for you: In the last 20 NCAA Tournaments, teams seeded 9-16 have played a first-round game in their home state just 13 times. The last No. 10 seed to play in its home state was in 2008. #Mizzou is among a very lucky few. Some history: stltoday.com/sports/college…

@slmandel When you’re obligated to have those Tuesday night shows, that’s what happens. Imagine having just one live reveal at the end of the season.

This Keith Gill interview is yet another reminder how much more consistent and methodical the hoops selection process is than football. And he can actually articulate their reasoning, unlike those Tuesday night CFP shows.

Florida has won 12 in a row, three of those against Kentucky. The other nine by an average of 24.8 points. Cats had a glimmer of hope in all three and kept them all in single digits. Not sure what to make of that, other than UK still doesn't have enough and UF is a wagon.
