This is why I (mostly) stopped sharing actual Metal Gear trivia. It was fun at first, but as it gradually became a trend, people started getting competitive with it. At that point, it was difficult to remain interested.

Today I officially decided to drop out of my PhD program.
I’ve learned a lot and met many interesting people, but academia ultimately wasn’t for me.
Time to move on with my life.

Welp, that second article just got rejected by my department after I waited months. They didn’t even bother giving me feedback this time. My options now are to submit my thesis with articles I wrote as a journalist which I doubt they’ll accept or withdraw altogether. Fantastic.

@dark1x Respectfully, I don't think that this is a good answer.
Specifically, stating "...it would have been prudent to wait to see the reaction from the audience..." seems to suggest that reporting on public consensus is preferable to sharing honest impressions. That's concerning.

I think this video does a good job explaining the viewpoints of the team but I wanted to make sure it was clear that I wasn't feeling up to participate yet thus not in the video. I will share my own thoughts soon but my opinions largely mirror what Alex says in this video!
