Touch prep from a mesenteric nodule during frozen section: check out these remarkable SIGNET RING CELLS. Permanent sections + IHC confirmed adenocarcinoma with signet ring cell features, consistent with an upper GI tract origin. #PathTwitter #CytoPath #PathResident #MedTwitter

@sza_jhcyto @kriyer68 Metastatic "Small Cell Carcinoma" aspirated from the thyroid. Patient had a known history of a "mixed small cell-adenocarcinoma" of the lung. Nice.

IMPRESSIVE cytomorphology of a metastatic "Small Cell Carcinoma" aspirated from the thyroid. Patient had a known history of a "mixed small cell-adenocarcinoma" of the lung. DD would include the uncommon subtype of medullary thyroid carcinoma with small cell features.

@B_C_Dickson @SumantaDas_7 SCLEROSING EPITHELIOID FIBROSARCOMA. IHC: MUC4. NGS: FUS-CREB3L2. NB: this case has so-called 'hybrid' features with low-grade fibromyxoid sarcoma; loose fascicles of spindle-epithelioid cells; bland ovoid nuclei; stroma that ranges from firomyxoid to sclerotic.

Clasical cytomorphology of small cell lung Ca ✍️🫁 - scanty or absent cytoplasm -coarse chromatin. Nuclear molding -small/medium cell size -Azzopardi phenomenon (lack of cytoplasm makes the nucleus fragile and ruptures on smearing) -Apoptosis @EfcsYoung @IACytology @israhkhan

ASCITIC fluid with almost complete involvement by malignant cells. The single cell pattern is classic for "Gastric" or "Breast Lobular" CA. (Cytopsin)

@sza_jhcyto NICE!. Great teaching points ✍️✍️ But nothing (almost) is impossible. Single cell pattern in fluids (pleural) is unusual for lung adenocarcinoma, as in this case. TTF1 +
